PINK PATH BY THANAPON JETWARANYU BRIDGES OBSERVATION OF AND INTERACTION WITH NATURE THROUGH  OUTLINING OF THE RESOURCES AT HAND

Outlining the potential of resources provided within a space, Pink Path by Thanapon Jetwaranyu traces, quite literally, the natural characteristics of the wetlands in Prachinburi,Thailand into a work of landscape art that one can walk across and upon.

Beginning with the natural flower patterns created by native plant species of the area, the contours of the vine lines were subtracted and replaced by a floating pink walkway that winds its way through and among the plantings in the area in a manner akin to the natural lines of the land.

“Creating simulated wetlands is equally as important as maintaining the natural resources which we have and is therefore the focus of this project,” described Jetwaranyu of the work which was recently awarded with an Honor Award recognition in this past year’s TALA [Thailand Association of Landscape Architects] Awards.

Acting with thoughtful reverence for the resources at hand while at the same time exercising creativity to bring additional functionality into the area, Pink Path acts as a perfect bridge between observation of and interaction with nature, providing opportunity for connection between nature and structure, people and place.
