A COLLABORATION BETWEEN OWNER, TEERACHAI LIMPAITOON AND DESIGNERS FROM SPACY HAS BROUGHT ABOUT A NATURALLY CONCEIVED SPACIOUSNESS FIT TO HOUSE BANGKOK’S TEA DRINKING CONNOISSEURS.
After the previous branch of Peace Oriental Teahouse garnered wonderful success, its latest chapter located right in the heart of Sukhumvit 49 still continues to express its aspiration and intent and that is to make Eastern tea become more widely known among modern consumers surrounded by the hectic context of Bangkok, while bringing forward the Eastern philosophy and wisdoms hidden in the tea drinking culture. The collaboration between the owner, Teerachai Limphaitoon, and the designer from SPACY on the 70-square-meter space transforms such inspiration into physicality with details of meticulously selected materials such as wood, the rounded corners of decorative elements, or the seamless flow between the glass and wall surfaces.
Such diverse methods help Peace 49 and its overall vibe to achieve the naturally conceived spaciousness it intends. The elevation of the seating to be at different heights and the sunken space specifically designed for tea making render a collectively equalized visual perception despite the many movements going on in the space. The highlight of this very new branch of Peace is the Tea Master Bar where all the tools and equipment are hidden inside the counter bar, consequentially eliminating the elements that may be obstructing the presence of the tea makers from the patrons. What’s present is the white synthesized stone at the center of the counter that stands out quite strikingly from the space. One can also find miscellaneous fun facts about tea on the walls although without any additional explanations, such information seems a bit too difficult to understand. We’re waiting to see how Peace will find its way to survive with the nearby Starbucks and three other cafes in the area, and in which direction it will go with the tea drinking culture and slow vibe it has to offer.
