JANUARY – FEBRUARY 2020
‘Living Together’
When we really think about it, we’re only a decade away from the year 2030, the year the United Nations predicts that the world’s population will increase from 7.7 billion to 8.5 billion. In the meantime, we’re living among other urban crises, from the number of megacities (a city with more than 10 million population) that has already reached 47, exceeding 41 which is the number the World Urbanization Prospects had speculated for 10 years from now…

Surely, there’s a very likely a high possibility for these figures to grow and surpass what has been previously speculated. The question art4d would like to invite everyone to ponder as the year 2020 officially begins isn’t just about what can we design to accommodate these changes, but more about how can we ‘coexist’ under the time when resources are dwindling and demands are continuing to grow.

IRREGULAR DEVELOPMENT
“With or without specific conditions, architects are required to study every aspect of every site they work with, not just the laws, the physical characteristic but also the context. I view form and context as two different things”
