FEELING BIG – dijuhara + dijuhara is famous for their low budget design. This house is also a limited-budget renovation in the suburbs of Jakarta, Indonesia. The architects create a new character for a new architecture in Jakarta which is a juxtaposition of smooth and rough surfaces to create a luxury of space, not a luxury of materials.
WINGS OF FREEDOM – Udon Thani has recently welcomed a distinctive architecture. As architect Pakorn Mahapant of M Space was commissioned to design the head office of NAT Motorsales, which also houses a showroom and service center for Honda Big Wing motorcycles to be an inspiring place for users, here is the outcome.
THE CHARM OF HISTORY – Nantapon Junngurn, a young architect has completed the renovation of an old building built between 1954-55 on the site of former Bang Yee Khan brewery into the administration building of Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music. While maintaining the original character of the building as much as possible, the architect nevertheless creates new space and architectural elements within the existing structure as well.
BOUTIQUE BLEND – To commemorate George Town’s 2008 inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city welcomes the much anticipated return of George Town Festival 2013 (GTF 2013). As the biggest arts festival in Penang, its program includes various art exhibitions and performances by both local and international artists.
JOURNALISM AND ACTIVISM – Alison Klayman was in Bangkok last November for the opening show of her documentary Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry which she directed, produced, filmed and co-edited.
