NO. 275
REMARKS ON DEMARK 2020

Thailand’s Office of Innovation and Value Creation Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, will have been hosting the Design Excellence Award (DEmark) for thirteen years this year. As the submitted projects continue to grow, with 400-500 submissions being the peak number, what is equally substantial is the mindset amongst entrepreneurs (particularly the younger generation) who believe in design’s ability to create a successful business.

This year, DEmark announces 38 winning projects under the Circular Design, Circle of Life theme, which centers around design whose conception and existence enables an endless circulation of resources and aims to create zero waste, whether through the process of recycling or reuse. art4d takes this opportunity to talk with 18 designers/design teams about the ideas behind their works and their views on what makes a ‘good design.’
