art4d 288 is the outcome of 17 hours of interviews, conducted by art4d with Salyawate Prasertwitayakarn of Atelier of Architects, about his life, his philosophy, and the journey of an architect who dedicated himself to the path of ‘practice’ and remained with it for more than two decades.

Throughout his 20-plus years in the profession, Salyawate has meticulously documented history and experiences, both in his memory and in a characteristic collection of sketches, which then become a profound crystallization of thought.

Together, these fragments of thought form the story of a profession: a life in architecture, told across nine chapters shaped by themes he has discovered along the way. Friendship, family, form, time, architectural language, the uncertainties of life, lessons from clients, and more.

In a sense, this book resembles a personal record Salyawate has used to perceive the world through each work he has designed.
