WAY ‘Calm Yourself Down’ คือโซนต้อนรับที่ประกอบด้วยสื่อหลากหลาย ทั้งภาพ เสียง ได้แรงบันดาลใจจากวิธีการกำหนดลมหายใจแบบ 4-7-8 ของ Dr. Andrew Weil แพทย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากมหาวิทยาลัย Harvard ที่ช่วยให้เกิดสมาธิและสงบสติอารมณ์ลงได้</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">จริงอยู่ที่กรุงเทพฯ เป็นเมืองติดอันดับเมืองน่าเที่ยวในสื่อหลายสำนัก แต่กรุงเทพฯ ก็เป็นเมืองที่มีปัญหามากมายรอคอยการแก้ไข หนึ่งในนั้นก็คือการขาดแคลนพื้นที่สาธารณะสำหรับให้คนในเมืองได้พักผ่อนกันตามอัธยาศัย</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">ในปี 2020 art4d จึงร่วมกับ SCG D’COR จัดโครงการ art4d x SCG D’COR: UNIQUE THE SPACE ที่ชวนดีไซเนอร์รุ่นใหม่มาร่วมพลิกโฉมพื้นที่ทรุดโทรมในชุมชนโชฎึก ให้กลายเป็นพื้นที่สาธารณะสำหรับทุกคนในชุมชน นอกจากการได้ลองลงพื้นที่จริงเพื่อพูดคุยกับคนในชุมชนและนำข้อมูลมาสร้างสรรค์งานออกแบบแล้ว เหล่าดีไซเนอร์ก็ยังได้รับคำแนะนำในการออกแบบจากการเข้าร่วมเวิร์กช็อปกับสถาปนิกผู้มีประสบการณ์ ได้แก่ วสุ วิรัชศิลป์ และณัฐพล ปัญจสกุลวงศ์ จาก VaSLab ARCHITECTURE และมนัสพงษ์ สงวนวุฒิโรจนา และพลสิทธิ์ แซ่เฮ้ง จาก Hypothesis พร้อมด้วยพันธมิตรของโครงการเช่นกลุ่มปั้นเมือง และ we!park</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">หลังจากกระบวนการเวิร์คช็อปอันเข้มเข้นสิ้นสุดลง ผลงานดีไซน์ 4 ชิ้นจากการระดมสมองของเหล่าดีไซเนอร์ก็ได้ถูกก่อสร้างขึ้นในปี 2021 ผลงานชิ้นแรกก็คือสนามเด็กเล่นโชฎึกที่ออกแบบเพื่อเด็กๆ ที่แวะเวียนมาในพื้นที่เป็นประจำ ผลงานนี้ใช้วัสดุจาก SCG D’COR ในการตกแต่งก่อสร้าง ไม่ว่าจะเป็น SCG D’COR Line หรือ SCG D’COR Rustic Board ซึ่งมีคุณสมบัติทนแดดทนฝนเหมาะกับงานกลางแจ้ง โดยผลงานชิ้นนี้ได้ถูกออกแบบด้วยเส้นโค้งที่ให้ความรู้สึกเป็นมิตร เชื้อเชิญให้เด็กๆ หรือผู้ใหญ่เข้ามาใช้พื้นที่ได้เป็นอย่างดี</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">ผลงานชิ้นถัดไปคือ ‘ก้าวข้าม’ หรือ ‘X-OVER (CROSSOVER)’ ทางลาดเส้นโค้งที่ตอบรับกับสนามเด็กเล่นและเปิดกว้างจินตนาการการใช้พื้นที่ให้กับผู้ใช้งาน อีกทั้งยังเชื่อมโยงกิจกรรมต่างๆ ในพื้นที่เข้าด้วยกัน ผลงานชิ้นนี้สร้างด้วยไม้ตกแต่งอเนกประสงค์ SCG D’COR Line และ SCG D’COR Modeena – M1 ที่ตกแต่งด้วยสีย้อมไม้และให้ผิวสัมผัสเหมือนกับไม้จริง กลมกลืนไปกับบรรดาต้นไม้และพืชพันธุ์สีเขียวที่อยู่โดยรอบ</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">ผลงานสุดท้ายที่น่าสนใจไม่แพ้กันก็คือ ‘BARRIER AND SEATING’ หรือ ‘ทั้งนั่งทั้งกั้น’ ที่ได้รับการออกแบบเป็นเฟอร์นิเจอร์ที่ใช้งานได้หลากหลาย ทั้งกระถางต้นไม้ ที่นั่ง หรือโต๊ะอเนกประสงค์สำหรับทำกิจกรรม และผลงานชิ้นนี้ ได้ SCG D’COR Modeena – M3 วัสดุที่ดูเรียบง่ายแต่มีมิติในตัวเองมาเป็นวัสดุหลักให้ดีไซเนอร์ได้ทดลองหาแง่มุมใหม่ๆ ในการใช้งาน</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">7 ผลงานออกแบบและพัฒนาสิ่งก่อสร้างเพื่อปรับปรุงพื้นที่สาธารณะภายในชุมชนโชฎึก จากโครงการ UNIQUE THE SPACE ในรูปแบบ Virtual Exhibition นิทรรศการเสมือนจริง 360 องศา ที่เปิดโอกาสให้เราสามารถเข้าไปรับชมผลงาน prototype จากฝีมือการออกแบบโดยสถาปนิกและนักออกแบบรุ่นใหม่ 24 คน ซึ่งได้นำวัสดุตกแต่ง เอสซีจี เดคคอร์ (SCG D’COR) มาต่อยอดให้เกิดเป็นผลงานสร้างสรรค์ และเรียนรู้กระบวนออกแบบอย่างมีส่วนร่วมกับผู้คนในชุมชน ซึ่งเป็นหัวใจสำคัญของ UNIQUE THE SPACE</span></p>

<p class="p2"><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">กิจกรรมเวิร์คช็อปออกแบบและพัฒนาสิ่งก่อสร้างเพื่อปรับปรุงพื้นที่สาธารณะภายในชุมชนโชฎึก ภายใต้โจทย์ “Unique Space Creation” จัดขึ้นโดยเอสซีจี เดคคอร์ (SCG D’COR) ร่วมกับ art4d โดยมีสถาปนิกจาก VaSLab Architecture และ Hypothesis รับหน้าที่เป็นสถาปนิกที่ปรึกษาหรือพี่เลี้ยง (Mentor) ให้กับสถาปนิกและนักออกแบบรุ่นใหม่ที่มีอายุระหว่าง 25–35 ปี พร้อมด้วยตัวแทนจาก ปั้นเมือง และ We!Park ร่วมให้คำปรึกษาในด้านกระบวนการออกแบบอย่างมีส่วนร่วมและการออกแบบพื้นที่สาธารณะ</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1" style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">ถือเป็นสาขาที่สอง ร้าน Lay Lao ร้านอาหารไทย-อีสาน ตั้งอยู่ภายในศูนย์การค้า ICONSIAM (สาขาแรกอยู่ที่ ซ.อารีย์) โดยใช้แนวความคิดที่ต้องการให้ผู้ที่เข้ามานั้น รู้สึกเหมือนได้มาทานข้าวบ้านเพื่อน ซึ่งเป็นความทรงจำที่ได้รับมาจากวัยเด็ก ทั้งวัสดุอย่างไม้ โต๊ะหินอ่อน พื้นหินเทอร์ราซโซทรายล้าง ที่ให้ความรู้สึกคุ้นชินแบบเมื่อก่อน จึงอยากที่จะจำลองบรรยากาศนั้นขึ้นมาภายในร้าน ซึ่งเป็นแนวความคิดเดียวกันกับที่ใช้ออกแบบทั้งสองสาขา โดยที่สาขาแรกนั้น ผู้ออกแบบได้ทำการตีโจทย์พื้นที่ ให้เป็นเหมือนห้องรับแขก ส่วนสาขานี้นำไอเดียสวนหลังบ้านมาออกแบบพื้นที่ โดยยังคงเก็บรายละเอียดที่ทำให้นึกถึงความเรียบง่าย และความเป็นกันเองไว้เหมือนเดิม โดยสถาปนิกที่ได้รับโจทย์ในครั้งนี้คือ 67s ที่เป็นผู้ออกแบบร้าน Lay Lao สาขาแรกด้วย</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1" style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">ร้านถูกสร้างขึ้นภายใต้โครงสร้างไม้ไผ่ที่ทางสถานที่จัดเตรียมไว้เพื่อสร้างบรรยากาศสำหรับพื้นที่โซนนี้ ที่ช่วยเสริมความรู้สึกแบบสวนหลังบ้านให้กับร้านได้มากขึ้นไปอีก การออกแบบของร้านนั้น เน้นไปที่ประโยชน์ในการใช้งานเป็นหลัก เริ่มจากส่วนครัวที่ต้องทำงานได้คล่องตัว สะดวกสบาย มีพื้นที่ใช้สอยที่เพียงพอ รวมไปถึงออกแบบเผื่อความเปลี่ยนแปลงในอนาคตหากมีการเพิ่มเมนูหรือขยายครัวก็สามารถทำได้ เพื่อตอบโจทย์การทำอาหารให้ลูกค้าได้ดีที่สุด ซึ่งสิ่งนี้คือประสบการณ์ที่ได้รับจากการเปิดร้านสาขาแรก ที่นำเอาบทเรียนที่พบเจอมาใช้แก้ปัญหาด้วยการออกแบบให้ดีขึ้น ตั้งแต่การแบ่งสัดส่วนพื้นที่ของครัวและพื้นที่จัดวางโต๊ะ ขนาดของโต๊ะที่ปรับให้ใหญ่ขึ้นเพื่อรองรับเมนูอาหารที่จัดวางในแต่ละครั้ง บวกกับการเลือกใช้จานที่มีขนาดเล็กลง เพื่อเพิ่มพื้นที่ว่างในการจัดวางบนโต๊ะอาหาร และการจัดวางโต๊ะแบบมุมชนมุม เพื่อให้มีพื้นที่การใช้งานมากขึ้น</span></p>

นอกจากรูปแบบการจัดวางผังร้านแล้ว วัสดุต่างๆ ที่เลือกใช้นั้นก็ผ่านวิธีการทดลอง และกระบวนผลิตมาเป็นอย่างดี เริ่มจากผิวหินขัดเทอร์ราซโซ่สำหรับบริเวณเคาน์เตอร์ ที่เลือกใช้ตามแนวความคิดหลัก แต่ปรับจากเดิมที่มีก้อนหินขนาดใหญ่ในชั้นพื้นผิวจึงมีการคัดเลือกขนาดหิน เข้าไปดูกระบวนการผลิตที่โรงงานเลือกเนื้อสี ทดลอง และเพิ่มรายละเอียดอย่างเปลือกหอยลงไปในพื้นผิวด้วย รวมถึงวิธีการก่อสร้าง เนื่องจากสถานที่ตั้งอยู่ภายในห้างสรรพสินค้า ทำาให้ไม่สามารถที่จะผลิตงานเทอร์ราซโซแบบหล่อในที่ได้ จึงปรับเปลี่ยนเป็นวิธีการผลิตเสร็จจากโรงงาน ซึ่งช่วยให้การจัดวางองค์ประกอบของก้อนหินและเปลือกหอยทำได้ง่ายกว่า จากนั้นจึงนำมาติดตั้งกับโครงสร้างที่เตรียมไว้แล้ว ช่วยให้การติดตั้งง่ายขึ้นและประหยัดเวลากว่าเดิม</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1" style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">ไม้เป็นอีกวัสดุสำคัญที่ช่วยเสริมให้แนวความคิดในการออกแบบเด่นชัดยิ่งขึ้น ไม้ถูกนำมาใช้ใน 3 ส่วนหลักๆ ชั้นวางของบริเวณเคาน์เตอร์ที่ให้ความรู้สึกเหมือนชั้นวางในห้องครัวของบ้านสมัยก่อน เก้าอี้หวายที่ดูแล้วคล้ายกับที่นั่งทานอาหารในสวนหลังบ้าน และพื้นไม้โทนเข้มที่ช่วยสร้างบรรยากาศให้อบอุ่นมากขึ้น องค์ประกอบเหล่านี้ต่างช่วยเสริมให้ร้าน Lay Lao แต่ละสาขา มีบรรยากาศที่ดี เป็นมิตร และสะท้อนถึงการออกแบบที่คำนึงถึงความงามควบคู่ไปกับการบริการที่ดี จนกลายเป็นภาพจำที่กลายเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของเอกลักษณ์ให้กับร้านได้อย่างชัดเจน</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1" style="font-family: rm-regular; font-size: 12pt;">Lay Lao, the Thai-Isan restaurant recently opened its second branch at the ICONSIAM department store, following on from the success of its first branch in Soi Ari. The interior design of the new branch invites diners to reminisce about home comforts and quiet nights with friends. Materials such as wood, marble table tops, and terrazzo flooring render a comfortable sense of familiarity and nostalgia. Whereas the interior of the first branch was an interpretation of a family living room, the idea behind the new branch is inspired by a home garden. The same architecture firm that was responsible for the first branch, 67s designed the interior of Lay Lao ICONSIAM to echo concepts of simplicity and friendliness.</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1" style="font-family: rm-regular; font-size: 12pt;">A bamboo structure in the dining space is the most obvious trace of the architects’ home garden inspiration. Even the kitchen embraces the concepts from the restaurant’s dining space; designed for comfort, convenience, and functionality. The architects were careful to consider the kitchen’s flexibility in regards to any future changes or expansions, having learnt the importance of flexibility from their experience with the restaurant’s first branch. Since then, the architects have developed better design solutions for both the front and back of house. The new branch features larger tabletops to accommodate more dishes, as well as a corner-to-corner table arrangement for a more functional dining space.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1" style="font-family: rm-regular; font-size: 12pt;">Aside from the composition of the space, the materials used in this project were selected through an intricate process of experimentation and production. The custom terrazzo finish of the counter was carefully selected for its size, color tone, and aesthetic details such as shells embedded in its surface. Due to the construction process inside the department store, the use of cast-in-place terrazzo was not an option. Therefore, selecting a prefabricated process was the best option, and it came with added benefits such as more control over the placement of shells and stones in the terrazzo finish. Another added benefit was the faster speed at which the terrazzo could be installed, along with the lower cost.</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1" style="font-family: rm-regular; font-size: 12pt;">Wood is another important material used throughout the restaurant, which helps bring the design concept to the fore. The wooden shelves by the countertop for example, remind diners of Thai peoples’ kitchens back in the old days. Rattan chairs emit the homey backyard garden vibe, while a darker shade of wood is used for the flooring to bring warmth into the space as a whole. The elegant interior design complemented by the excellent service and intimate atmosphere at Lay Lao, beautifully intertwines aesthetic and functional qualities in a delightful manner.</span></p>

<p class="p2"><span class="s1" style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">นอกเหนือจากประเด็นที่สถาปนิกทั้ง 4 ท่านกล่าวไว้ในวิดีโอข้างต้น ประเด็นที่คิดว่าน่าสนใจเกี่ยวกับ SCG C’COR คงจะเป็นนวัตกรรมการผลิตวัสดุทดแทนที่มีแนวโน้มว่ากำลังจะมีพัฒนาการไปอีกขั้นในเร็วๆ นี้ ขึ้นชื่อว่า D’COR โปรดักท์ทั้ง 4 ชิ้น นั่นคือ SCG Line, SCG Modeena, SCG C-Channel และ SCG Trim นั้นถูกออกแบบมาใช้สำหรับการตกแต่งโดยเฉพาะ จุดเด่นของมันคือหน้าตาที่ดูเหมือนจริงมากๆ โดยเฉพาะกับ SCG Line ที่ต้องยอมรับว่ามีสัมผัสที่ไม่ได้ต่างจากการจับท่อนไม้ที่ทาแลคเกอร์มาอย่างดีเท่าไหร่นัก ความเหมือนจริงนี้ทำให้เราอดคิดไม่ได้ว่ายุคที่วัสดุทดแทนจะสามารถมาแทนที่วัสดุธรรมชาติได้อย่างสมบูรณ์แบบ (ในด้านความงามทางสายตา) กำลังจะมาถึงในเร็วๆ นี้ ข้อได้เปรียบอีกอย่างของวัสดุทดแทน คงจะเป็นการทำงานแบบ dry process ที่ทำให้สามารถรวบรัดระยะเวลาการทำงานได้กระชับขึ้น และเมื่อระยะเวลาทำงานน้อยลงเราก็จะสามารถควบคุบงบประมาณในการก่อสร้างได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพมากกว่าเดิม</span></p>
<p class="p2"><span class="s1" style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">ต้องรอดูต่อไปว่า SCG D’COR จะเปิดตัวโปรดักท์อะไรตามมา แต่ที่แน่ๆ นับจากนี้ไป เราคงได้เห็นการนำกลุ่มโปรดักท์ SCG D’COR มาประยุกต์ใช้กับงานสถาปัตยกรรมในรูปแบบใหม่ๆ ดังที่เห็นได้จากผลงานออกแบบของนักศึกษาสามกลุ่มที่ได้รับรางวัลในรายการประกวดแบบ SCG Inspire in Style 2019 </span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1" style="font-family: rm-regular; font-size: 12pt;">In addition to the issues discussed in the recorded conversation above, one of the things we find to be particularly interesting about SCG D’COR is the promising development in SCG’s innovations and manufacturing of alternative materials. Living up to the name D’COR, the four products within this product lines, SCG Line, SCG Modeena, SCG C-Channel and SCG Trim, are designed specifically for decorative purposes. One of their most distinctive qualities is the highly realistic physical appearance with the textural and tactile features that are incredibly similar to those of real lacquered wood. Another advantage of alternative material is the dry process that enables shorter construction period, which ultimately leads to greater efficiency in budget control. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1" style="font-family: rm-regular; font-size: 12pt;">While the next product that will be launched under SCG’s D’COR is still something that remains to be seen, we can certainly expect to see some interesting and unprecedented uses of these alternative materials in actual architectural projects in the very near future. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: rm-regular;">Cement has always been a pivotal material in architectural design and construction. Its quality and functionality have been continuously developed to serve not only construction works but also design creations that have a direct involvement with a project’s identity. One interesting example is the use of 3D cement printing technology for the construction of ‘The Crest of Pride’ of SCG Muangthong United Football Club at SCG Stadium, Muangthong Thani.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: rm-regular;">SCG has been on board with the development of 3D cement printing technology for five consecutive years. Comprehensive research and development of the technology have been carried out including the development of raw materials such as the special formula of SCG’s mortar cement mixture, the capabilities of the 3D printers themselves, as well as the software, allowing for the desired final results to be achieved. SCG has acted as a source of celebration of the extraordinary possibilities of the technology and has shared these accomplishments through its pavilion at the ASA Expo since 2015.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: rm-regular;">This particular project, however, offered another challenging chapter for SCG. The 3D cement printing technology developed through research conducted by Dr. Larpyos Prasitsophin, researcher of SCG, has been used in the development of computer-generated graphics and advanced manufacturing technology. The transformation of the intricate details of the twin qilin on the club’s crest into the computer graphic language posed an interesting challenge. SCG employs a technique in which the formation of the piece is executed through the undisrupted continuation of cement lines. The printer is operated to push and drag the cement content from one point to another without lifting the nozzle until the work is completed, rendering a final result of impressively accurate details. For instance, the mass of the legs of the twin qilin, which is comparatively thinner and smaller, needed to bear the weight of the upper part of the crest’s structure. As a result, a reinforcing technique was employed to help strengthen this particular section. The project embodies the innovation of a design that is a testament to SCG’s “PASSION FOR BETTER.” It reflects the drive and determination of SCG, Muangthong United’s management team, coaches and athletes to make every day better. Just like cement, the success is molded from the power, harmony and mental and physical strength of the players, all fan club, the coaching staff and the members of this great organization. With these elements, SCG Muangthong United Football Club has grown to become Thailand’s leading football team.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: rm-regular;">On Maliwan Road in Khon Kaen province of Thailand, 200 meters from Mittraphap Road tunnel stands a visually striking structure. Its presence pops out from the surrounding context of the city, particularly in the area occupied by shophouses and car showrooms, which has become a normal sight to see on the main roads of major cities in provincial Thailand. The building’s architectural elements consist of a wall of concrete laths. Cladded with tiles, the wall merges itself to the remaining columns, beams and roof structure of the original building. Looking closer, one can see the space at the front of the building houses a café called ‘CLASS.’ But what is the story behind this unusual looking building? One can only guess.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: rm-regular;">The Siam Cement Group Public Company Limited or SCG, the project’s owner, calls the company’s new experimental project ‘VOA Space.’ Ekaphap Duangkaew was the architect assigned to oversee the design together with CDO (Creative & Design Office), SCG’s in-house design team who is also responsible for the project’s trend research.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: rm-regular;">Initially, SCG was planning to set up a new COTTO showroom in the north-eastern region. The plan led to the lease of an old car service center in downtown Khon Kaen, which is the project’s designated site. Duangkaew, however, proposed to SCG the possibility of the project presenting a new image and usage that would differentiate VOA Space from other showrooms of this nature. The architect created a program that functions as a community where architects and designers meet with their clients. By utilizing architectural compositions to facilitate functional spaces and activities, the image of a commercial showroom is converged with the functionality of a community space.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: rm-regular;">The idea gave birth to a building where the new and old elements meet and mingle. Cladded with tiles, the new concrete wall unites itself to the existing structure of the old building where the original walls were torn down. The new wall encloses the space and divides the functional area into two zones. The boundary between each zone is obscured by the presence of the concrete lath wall with a landscape in the middle linking the interior spaces together. The area at the front is where the café is located alongside the entirety of the lath walls and their sleek finishing of black tiles, while the space at the back sees the use of white tiles chosen as the walls’ finishing surface. Bright and spacious, it is used to accommodate activities, a meeting room and a co-working space for architects and designers. This particular area is also where information about the products are provided. An elevated walkway connects the spaces on the upper floor, and the airy mass between the lath walls not only softens the dividing line between the two areas, but also blurs the physical boundary between the program’s interior and exterior while abundantly bringing in na- tural light to the building’s functional spaces at the very same time.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: db-manothai; font-size: 18pt;">หากมีโอกาสผ่านไปที่ขอนแก่น บริเวณถนนมะลิวัลย์ ระยะทางประมาณ 200 เมตรจากแยกอุโมงค์ถนนมิตรภาพ คุณจะพบอาคารที่มีรูปร่างหน้าตาค่อนข้างแปลกไปจากบริบทโดยรอบ ซึ่งมักเป็นอาคารพาณิชย์และโชว์รูมรถยนต์แบบที่เราสามารถพบเห็นได้ทั่วไปบนถนนสายหลักของเมืองใหญ่ในต่างจังหวัด องค์ประกอบของอาคารแห่งนี้ประกอบไปด้วยผนังระแนงคอนกรีตที่กรุด้วยกระเบื้องที่สอดแทรกประสาน เข้ากับตัวโครงสร้างของอาคารเก่าท่ีคงหลงเหลือเอาไว้แค่เสา คาน และหลังคา และเมื่อพยายามลองสังเกตดูก็จะพบว่าพื้นที่บริเวณด้านหน้าของอาคารนั้นเป็นร้านกาแฟท่ีมีชื่อว่า CLASS แต่ก็ยังอดสงสัยไม่ได้อยู่ดีว่าอาคารหลังที่ว่านี้คืออะไรกัน</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: db-manothai; font-size: 18pt;">บริษัท ปูนซิเมนต์ ไทย จํากัด (มหาชน) หรือ SCG ซึ่งเป็นเจ้าของโครงการนี้ เรียกพื้นที่ทดลองโครงการใหม่ของบริษัทแห่งน้ีว่า VOA Space โดยมีสถาปนิก เอกภาพ ดวงแก้ว เป็นผู้รับผิดชอบในการออกแบบอาคาร และ CDO (Creative & Design Office) ทีม in-house ของ SCG ทํางานร่วมกันเป็นผู้ดูแลรับผิดชอบในการวิจัยเรื่องเทรนด์</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: db-manothai; font-size: 18pt;">แรกเริ่มนั้น SCG ต้องการสร้างโชว์รูมผลิตภัณฑ์ COTTO แห่งใหม่ขึ้นในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ จึงเลือกเช่าพื้นที่ของอาคารศูนย์บริการซ่อมรถยนต์เก่าแห่งหนึ่งในตัวเมือง ขอนแก่นท่ีไม่ได้ใช้งานแล้วเป็นที่ตั้งโครงการ แต่เอกภาพได้เสนอไอเดียกับทาง SCG ว่าโครงการนี้ควรมีภาพลักษณ์และการใช้งานแบบใหม่ๆ ที่มีอะไรมากไปกว่าการเป็นแค่โชว์รูมผลิตภัณฑ์ท่ีสามารถพบเห็นได้ทั่วไป โดยเขาทําให้ตัวอาคารนี้เป็นเสมือน community สําหรับพบปะพูดคุยหรือนัดพบลูกค้าของสถาปนิกและนักออกแบบท่ีอยู่ในย่านนี้ ใช้องค์ประกอบทางสถาปัตยกรรมเป็นตัวเชื่อมโยงพื้นท่ีและกิจกรรมต่างๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นภายในพื้นที่เข้าไว้ด้วยกัน ด้วยการเบลอภาพลักษณ์ของความเป็นโชว์รูมผลิตภัณฑ์ให้หายไปกับภาพของความเป็น community space</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: db-manothai; font-size: 18pt;">ผลลัพธ์ของสถาปัตยกรรมที่เกิดจากไอเดียที่ว่านี้ก็คือ อาคารที่ประกอบไปด้วยผนังระแนงคอนกรีตที่กรุด้วยกระเบื้องท่ีแทรกประสานเข้ากับโครงสร้างของอาคารเก่าที่ทุบผนังอาคารเดิมออกทั้งหมด โดยที่แนวผนังระแนงทั้งหมดได้ห่อหุ้มพื้นที่ว่างและแบ่งพื้นที่ของอาคารเป็นสองโซน ในขณะเดียวกันผนังระแนงก็เบลอความชัดเจนของที่ว่างในแต่ละโซนนั้น และมี landscape ที่อยู่ตรงกลางเป็นพื้นที่เชื่อมต่อภายใน โดยพื้นที่ข้างหน้าเป็นร้านกาแฟที่ผนังระแนงทั้งหมดจะกรุด้วยกระเบื้องสีดํา ในขณะที่พื้นที่ด้านหลังที่ผนังระแนงกรุด้วยกระเบื้องสีขาวทั้งหมดนั้น จะเป็นพื้นท่ีสําหรับจัดกิจกรรม ห้องประชุม และพื้นที่นั่งทํางานของสถาปนิกและนักออกแบบ รวมถึงเป็นพื้นท่ีให้บริการข้อมูลของผลิตภัณฑ์ต่างๆ ส่วนบริเวณชั้นบนจะมีสะพานทางเดินเชื่อมพื้นที่ทั้งสองฝั่งเข้าด้วยกัน นอกจากผนังระแนงจะช่วยเบลอความชัดเจนของพื้นที่อาคารทั้งสองส่วนที่เกิดขึ้นแล้ว มันยังช่วยเบลอเส้นแบ่งระหว่างพื้นที่ภายในกับภายนอก และยังเป็นประโยชน์ในเรื่องของการนําแสงสว่างจากภายนอกเข้ามายังพื้นที่ใช้สอยต่างๆ ภายในอาคารอีกด้วย</span></p>

Having the right roof structure is the solution that can solve the problem effectively. While the main functionality of roof structure is to bear the weight of the roofing materials and other structural members, the components hidden underneath the roof structure function similarly to the skeleton, which contributes to the structural strength of a piece of architecture.</span></p>

There is no doubt that the widely used roof structure in modern architectural design is the ‘<span lang="NL">steel roof.</span>’ While steel offers greater availability and a comparatively cheaper price, the construction method requires strict protocol. The surface must be painted properly to prevent rust and the assembly relies on each workman’s technical skills while quality control and standards can be a challenge. Such complications have caused ‘prefabricated roof structures’ to become one of the most popular alternatives for today’s building construction. Despite the higher price compared to steel roofs, prefabricated roofs come with more all-encompassing qualities from galvanized coatings and maximized rust-resistant abilities to the more convenient installation using screws that offer less opportunity for mistakes than steel joinery. Additionally, prefabricated roofs grant a more accurate design and calculation of force and weight bearing thanks to the technology that allows for the roof to be manufactured specifically for one particular building. What it also offers is the reliable standardization and the 5-10 year warranty of the installation. The decision to spend extra money on prefabricated roofs can ultimately be less expensive than the extra maintenance costs that come with steel roof structures. At the end of the day, the possible maintenance fee of steel roof structures may be greater than the extra initial cost spent on the prefabricated roof—you never know.</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: rm-regular;">หัวใจสำคัญอย่างหนึ่งที่ขาดไม่ได้เลยในการออกแบบสถาปัตยกรรมเขตร้อนชื้น (tropical architecture) คือการทำความเข้าใจในสภาพอากาศที่แปรปรวนของภูมิภาค โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในช่วงหน้าฝน ที่น้ำฝนและความชื้นมักส่งผลโดยตรงต่ออาคารจนทำให้เกิดความเสียหายขึ้นภายในได้ การเลือกใช้โครงหลังคาที่เหมาะสมจึงเป็นตัวช่วยสำคัญที่ช่วยแก้ปัญหาดังกล่าว และแม้ว่าหน้าที่หลักๆ ของโครงหลังคาจะเป็นเพียงการรองรับวัสดุมุงหลังคาและอุปกรณ์ต่างๆ ทว่าชิ้นส่วนที่ซ่อนอยู่ใต้หลังคาไม่ต่างไปจากโครงกระดูกนี้ เป็นองค์ประกอบสำคัญที่ช่วยสร้าง “ความแข็งแรง” ให้กับสถาปัตยกรรมได้เป็นอย่างดี</span></p>
