<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">แม้ว่าแบบร่างชิ้นแรกๆ ของโปรเจกต์นี้จะดูสวยงาม แต่ก็ไม่น่าเป็นไปได้จากมุมมองการผลิต ทักษะเชิงปฏิบัติและความรู้เกี่ยวกับวัสดุที่นักออกแบบอย่าง Lim สั่งสมมาจากประสบการณ์การลองผิดลองถูกกลับกลายเป็นอุปสรรคในการสื่อสารกับแพลตฟอร์มปัญญาประดิษฐ์</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">แรกเริ่มนั้น AI ให้ข้อเสนอแนะเป็นชนิดไม้ทั่วๆ ไป แต่เมื่อได้รับคำขอให้พิจารณาถึงวัสดุที่ยั่งยืนและใช้งานได้ดี คำแนะนำของมันก็ชี้ไปที่ American red oak ซึ่งเป็นวัสดุที่ง่ายต่อการทำงานและมีความหลากหลาย หาไม่ยาก ยั่งยืน และสามารถนำไปอบไอน้ำและดัดเพื่อขึ้นรูปได้อย่างง่ายดาย ในแง่หนึ่ง ความสามารถในการเลือกวัสดุนี้ก็นับว่าชดเชยข้อจำกัดของ AI ในเรื่องของความเข้าใจวิธีการผลิตทางอุตสาหกรรมไปได้</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">“โมเดลที่ AI จำลองขึ้นจะพบปัญหาตอนที่ได้รับคำสั่งให้พิจารณาถึงแง่มุมทางเทคนิคของการผลิต ซึ่งสำหรับช่างฝีมือแล้วเรื่องนี้แทบจะเป็นสิ่งที่อยู่ในสัญชาตญาณเลยครับ นี่ทำให้ผมเห็นข้อจำกัดของปัญญาประดิษฐ์ในปัจจุบัน ผมพบว่าการใช้ประสบการณ์ของตัวเองมาลงมือแก้ไขโดยตรงเลยจะง่ายกว่าการพยายามให้ป้อนคำแนะนำเพิ่มเติม ถึงปัญญาประดิษฐ์จะสามารถเรียนรู้ได้เมื่อเวลาผ่านไป แต่การพยายามสื่อสารสิ่งที่ผมรู้ให้มันเข้าใจในตอนนี้ต้องใช้เวลานานเกินไปครับ องค์ประกอบที่ต้องใช้สัญชาตญาณเหล่านี้จำเป็นต้องได้รับการอธิบายอย่างชัดเจนทั้งหมดเวลาทำงานกับ AI” Lim อธิบายถึงกระบวนการ</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) ได้จัดอีเวนต์ 2 งานเพื่อส่งเสริมความยั่งยืนของการใช้ไม้ในอุตสาหกรรมออกแบบและสถาปัตยกรรมใน Clerkenwell Design Week ณ กรุงลอนดอน เมื่อเดือนพฤษภาคมที่ผ่านมา</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">อีเวนต์ทั้งคู่เป็นการสาธิตคุณสมบัติทั้งเชิงสร้างสรรค์และการใช้งานของไม้เนื้อแข็ง 2 ชนิดคือ American red oak และ American cherry ซึ่งน้อยครั้งที่จะถูกนำมาใช้ในงานออกแบบทั่วไป อีเวนต์แรกเป็นการร่วมมือครั้งใหญ่ระหว่าง Foster + Partners Industrial Design ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในสตูดิโอออกแบบชั้นนำของอังกฤษ และ Benchmark หนึ่งในผู้ผลิตเฟอร์นิเจอร์ที่มีความชำนาญระดับแนวหน้า โดยเริ่มด้วยผลงานเปิดตัว ‘in-between’ จากไม้ American red oak ที่ใช้ ILE หรือระบบ modular workspace รูปแบบใหม่ อีเวนต์ต่อมาคือนิทรรศการผลงานที่สร้างจากไม้ American cherry โดยนักศึกษาภาควิชาออกแบบผลิตภัณฑ์และเฟอร์นิเจอร์แห่งมหาวิทยาลัยคิงส์ตัน (Kingston University)</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">แม้ผลลัพธ์ที่เป็นชิ้นงานสุดท้ายจะแตกต่างกัน แต่ทั้ง 2 โปรเจ็กต์ของ The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) ก็นำเสนอศักยภาพของวัสดุที่ถูกมองข้ามให้เข้ามามีบทบาทในอุตสาหกรรมเพื่ออนาคตที่ยั่งยืน และเป็นตัวอย่างของงานไม้ที่หลากหลาย แหวกจากรูปแบบเดิมในการออกแบบผลงานให้มีความสวยงาม เป็นประโยชน์ต่อการใช้งาน และมีคุณภาพสูง</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">ด้าน ILE นั้นเป็นงานไม้ภายใต้คอนเซ็ปต์ ‘in-between’ โดยเป็นเฟอร์นิเจอร์ระบบโมดูลาร์สำหรับใช้ในสำนักงาน ประกอบด้วยชิ้นส่วนที่สามารถถอดประกอบได้ทุกด้านด้วยนวัตกรรม ‘timber fixing strip’ ซึ่งช่วยในการจัดการพื้นที่ทำงานให้เอื้อต่อรูปแบบการทำงานที่แตกต่างกัน ILE สร้างจากไม้เนื้อแข็งสองชนิดคือ American red oak และ British ash ซึ่งใช้งานได้จริง หาง่าย น่าดึงดูด ทั้งยังยั่งยืน</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">อีกด้านหนึ่งคือนิทรรศการงานไม้ American cherry โดยนักศึกษาภาควิชาออกแบบผลิตภัณฑ์และเฟอร์นิเจอร์แห่งมหาวิทยาลัยคิงส์ตัน ในชื่อ ‘The Cherry Project’ งานนี้เป็นการนำเสนอผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ทำจากไม้เชอร์รีเกรดต่ำ ซึ่งสามารถนำเราไปสู่ความยั่งยืนได้ด้วยราคาต่ำและยังรักษาสิ่งแวดล้อม ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับวัตถุประสงค์ของ The American Hardwood Export Council คือส่งเสริมความยั่งยืนในงานออกแบบเฟอร์นิเจอร์ด้วยไม้เนื้อแข็ง</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">ผลลัพธ์ที่ได้จากอีเวนต์คือคอลเล็กชันเฟอร์นิเจอร์และเหล่าชิ้นงานแสนพิเศษที่มอบความสดใหม่ ใช้งานได้จริง และยังเผยมุมมองอันสร้างสรรค์จากวัสดุที่ถูกมองข้าม ตั้งแต่เก้าอี้ ชั้นวางของ จนถึงม้านั่ง แม้กระทั่งไม้กระดกสำหรับสนามเด็กเล่น ตัวงานที่สร้างขึ้นยังเผยเห็นประโยชน์รอบด้านของไม้เชอร์รีและทักษะที่มาพร้อมวิสัยทัศน์ของบรรดานักศึกษาภาควิชาออกแบบอีกด้วย</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">เราตั้งชื่อว่า MUEJA ภาษาเหนือคือ ‘มือจา’ แปลว่า มือสาก เพราะคนที่ทำงานฝีมือที่เซียนๆ ส่วนมากก็จะมือสากกันทั้งนั้นเพราะใช้มือในการทำงานมาทั้งชีวิต เราชอบที่คำมันน่ารักดี เลยกลายเป็นชื่อนี้</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">หลังเรียนจบตอนปี 2021 ตอนนั้นเกิดโควิดพอดี ด้วยความที่ไม่อยากทำงานออฟฟิศ แต่สนใจงานช่างมากกว่า เราเลยกลับบ้าน แล้วก็เลยลองเริ่มทำเฟอร์นิเจอร์ขายบน Instagram อาศัยศึกษาเทคนิคจาก YouTube แล้วก็ฝึกตัวเองมาเรื่อยๆ จนถึงทุกวันนี้</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">เราชอบทำงานช่างอยู่แล้ว แล้วก็คิดว่าในปัจจุบันในไทยมีคนทำงานในรูปแบบนี้น้อย เราก็น่าจะพอไปในทางนี้ได้ ทำแล้วมีความสุข ได้อยู่ที่บ้านกับครอบครัว</span></p>

<h2><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular;">อะไรคือแรงบันดาลใจและหลักการในการทำงานแต่ละครั้ง</span></strong></span></h2>
<p><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">ส่วนใหญ่มาจากรากของเราที่เป็นคนเชียงใหม่ มาจากสิ่งของเครื่องใช้ ธรรมชาติ ภูเขาป่าไม้ ความชอบมันสะสมมาโดยที่เราไม่รู้ตัวสุดท้ายสิ่งเหล่านี้ก็จะเข้าไปผสมอยู่ในงาน หลักการทำงานแต่ละครั้งคือเราก็ตั้งใจทำออกมาให้ดี พยายามแก้ไขจุดที่บกพร่อง แล้วก็พัฒนามันไปเรื่อยๆ</span></p>

<h2><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;"><strong>โปรเจ็กต์ไหนที่คุณภูมิใจมากที่สุด เพราะอะไร?</strong></span></h2>
<p><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">ภูมิใจพอๆ กันเลยครับ เพราะมันก็ค่อยๆ โตตามทางของมันช้าๆ ตามเวลาและฝีมือของเราด้วย แต่ถ้าให้เลือกก็คงเป็น D.I.Y. Pavilion เพราะเป็นโปรเจ็กต์ที่ D.I.Y. มาก ทำกันสองคนกับพี่ก้อง (เจ้าของร้าน Ku Bar) มีพี่มาย (@methineemeeluea) มาช่วยเย็บผ้าใบและก็มีเพื่อนๆ พี่ๆ ที่เชียงใหม่ช่วยกัน เป็นอะไรที่บ้ามาก ทั้งยกไม้ขึ้นตึกชั้น 4 ปีนนั่งร้านสูงๆ แต่ทำกันแค่สามสี่คน นึกย้อนกลับไปก็ยังงงอยู่ว่าทำไปได้ยังไง</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">เริ่มต้นจาก ‘FLEX Chair-01’ ซึ่งเป็นเก้าอี้แบบมีที่วางครึ่งแขน ถูกออกแบบให้มีขนาดค่อนข้างใหญ่ เพื่อให้ทุกคนสามารถนั่งได้อย่างสะดวกสบาย และยังโดดเด่นด้วยความต่อเนื่องของเส้นโค้งระหว่างโครงสร้างไม้บีชที่ดูเหมือนกับกำลังบิดเข้าหาพนักพิง โดยนำเสนอประสบการณ์ตกแต่งและใช้งานพื้นที่ภายในบ้านที่หลากหลายให้ทุกคน ด้วยการเปิดโอกาสให้เลือกวัสดุที่จะนำมาถักสานตรงพนักพิง ระหว่างเชือกกระดาษที่มอบความสวยงามของวัสดุธรรมชาติหรือวัสดุสังเคราะห์ที่ดูแลรักษาได้ง่าย ส่วนเบาะเองก็สามารถเปลี่ยนเป็นเบาะผ้า เบาะไม้ หรือเบาะหนังแท้ก็ได้เช่นกัน</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">เมื่อมีเก้าอี้แล้ว จะขาดโต๊ะซึ่งเป็นของที่ต้องมีคู่กันไปไม่ได้ ในคอลเล็กชันนี้จึงมี ‘FLEX Table-01’ เป็นโต๊ะที่ให้ภาพลักษณ์สวยสง่าเรียบง่าย ชูวัสดุอย่างไม้ที่กำลังทำหน้าที่ค้ำจุนโต๊ะอย่างมั่นคง ด้วยดีไซน์ของขาโต๊ะดัดโค้งที่ถูกออกแบบให้เลื่อนตำแหน่งเข้ามาด้านในเพื่อไม่ให้ดูเกะกะ สำหรับรุ่นนี้เองก็สามารถเลือกทั้งหน้าโต๊ะและโครงโต๊ะได้ ซึ่งมีตัวเลือกระหว่างไม้บีชเยอรมัน ไม้โอ๊คขาวอเมริกัน หรือหิน (เฉพาะหน้าโต๊ะ) โดยความยาวของหน้าโต๊ะไม้จริงสามารถเลือกได้ถึง 2.7 เมตร ซึ่งไม่ว่าจะเป็นชอยส์ไหน PODIUM ก็มอบคุณภาพที่ยอดเยี่ยมจากเทคนิคการผลิตงานไม้คุณภาพสูงให้ทุกคนได้ โดยโต๊ะรุ่นนี้ยังมีโครงซัพพอร์ตช่วยป้องกันปัญหาการโก่งงอตามธรรมชาติที่อาจเกิดขึ้นได้ในวัสดุไม้จริง ทำให้สามารถรักษาความสวยงามและความแข็งแรงทนทานของโต๊ะได้ในระยะยาว ซึ่งถือเป็นความใส่ใจในรายละเอียดของแบรนด์ที่มีความชำนาญในการผลิตงานไม้มานานกว่า 4 ทศวรรษ อย่าง PODIUM</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">“งานชิ้นนี้ผมแกะให้เห็นเนื้อในของไม้ เพื่อแสดงคุณสมบัติของวัสดุที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไปจนถึงชั้นในของไม้เพราะกระบวนการ thermal modification ที่การอบเนื้อไม้ช่วยไล่ความชื้นออกไป ทำให้ไม้เหมาะแก่การนำมาใช้ในสภาพอากาศร้อนชื้นของภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้มากขึ้นด้วย” Lim กล่าวถึงผลงานชุด Kyon Ottoman and Side Table ที่เขาทำร่วมกับช่างฝีมือจาก Omega Mas ในอินโดนีเซีย</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">เมื่อไม่นานมานี้ Lim ยังได้เป็นผู้ออกแบบบูธให้ AHEC ในนิทรรศการ The International Furniture Manufacturing Component Exhibition (IFMAC) ที่จัดขึ้นในจากาตาร์อีกด้วย ภายใต้คำขอให้ ‘แสดงความเป็นไปได้ในการสร้างสรรค์ไม้เนื้อแข็งอเมริกัน’ ซึ่งก็ถือว่าตรงกับการเสาะหาความเป็นไปได้ของสิ่งต่างๆ รอบตัวที่สตูดิโอทำมาตลอดพอดิบพอดี บวกกับคุณภาพของ American Hardwood ที่มีในภูมิภาคเอเชียแปซิฟิก รวมถึงสีและลายไม้ที่หลากหลาย อย่าง Red Oak และ White Oak ที่นิยมกันทั่วไป และไม้เมเปิลกับเชอร์รี่ที่เพิ่งได้รับความสนใจในช่วงนี้ งานนี้จึงเรียกได้ว่าเข้ามือ Lim พอดิบพอดี “เรามักจะถูกลูกค้าขอให้ดีไซน์ในหลายแง่มุม นั่นทำให้ผมมีโอกาสได้ลองสำรวจว่าอะไรที่ทำแล้วใช้งานได้บ้าง บางทีก็มีโอกาสได้ลองทำไอเดียที่เคยคิดไว้ในหัวให้มันมีชีวิตขึ้นมา”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">งานของ Lim ไม่ใช่แค่ผลลัพธ์ที่มาจากการสรรหาแนวคิดที่แปลกใหม่บนพื้นฐานของการใช้งานจริงเท่านั้น แต่ยังรวมถึงรายละเอียดในส่วนที่เล็กที่สุดเพื่อให้ทุกโปรเจ็กต์มีเสน่ห์ที่แตกต่างกัน “ถ้าคุณลองเข้ามาดูใกล้ๆ งานชิ้นนี้คุณจะเห็นเส้นระหว่างข้อต่อหลายจุด เส้นพวกนี้คือสิ่งที่นำไปสู่รูปร่างหน้าตาของเฟอร์นิเจอร์อย่างที่ผมต้องการ เพราะมีประสบการณ์ในฐานะช่างด้วย ผมจึงสามารถสาธิตให้ผู้ผลิตดูได้เลยว่าต้องใช้เครื่องเจียรและอุปกรณ์ต่างๆ อย่างไร เพื่อให้ได้ผลสุดท้ายแบบไหน” Lim กล่าวเสริมถึงเฟอร์นิเจอร์ Kellan dining chair</span></p>

</span><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">เริ่มจากสร้างของชิ้นแรกเมื่อปี 2013 และติดใจในกระบวนการ รวมถึงผลลัพธ์ที่ได้ซึ่งต่างจากสิ่งที่เคยเห็นในท้องตลาด เลยตัดสินใจค่อยๆ เปลี่ยนบ้านเป็นสตูดิโอ เพื่อสะสมชั่วโมงการทำงานและเก็บเกี่ยวประสบการณ์ผ่านการลงมือทำ พอผ่านไปซักระยะก็เริ่มมีคนติดต่อซื้องาน ในราคาและกรอบเวลาที่เราลงรายละเอียดกับงานได้เต็มที่ จึงวางแผนและออกมารันสตูดิโอเต็มตัวในปี 2020 และมีสอนเวิร์กช็อปให้คนได้สัมผัสงานไม้ในรูปแบบ fine woodworking และแบ่งปันช่วงเวลาของการได้สร้างสรรค์ชิ้นงานผ่านสองมือ</span></p>

</span></span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: sarabun-regular;">ประเทศเรามีงานจากระบบอุตสาหกรรมเต็มไปหมดในท้องตลาด ไม่ใช่เรื่องของสวย/ไม่สวยนะ แต่ตอนเริ่มแต่งบ้านคือเรามองหาอะไรที่มันมีเอกลักษณ์มีขนาดที่เฉพาะเจาะจงกับพื้นที่ที่เรามี ซึ่งไม่ง่ายเลยที่จะหาของแบบที่ถูกใจเราทั้งหมด จะสั่งทำก็มีประสบการณ์กับช่างหลายสาขาตอนทำบ้าน ซึ่งเรามีคำถามเรื่องความเรียบร้อย ไม่เรียบร้อยอยู่ตลอด กับดีเทลเล็กๆ ที่เห็นแล้วเล่าถึงความใส่ใจ การเจอช่างในอุดมคติแบบนี้ไม่ต่างจากงมเข็มในมหาสมุทร ก็เลยตัดสินใจตอนนั้นว่าพื้นที่บ้านเราก็ไม่เยอะ ทำเครื่องเรือนของใช้เองทั้งหมดแล้วกัน แถมได้เก็บประสบการณ์จริงไปในตัวด้วย</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: sarabun-regular;">ความสนุกอีกอย่างของการได้ทำงาน custom คือโจทย์ของเราไม่ใช่อะไรลอยๆ แต่เป็นข้อมูลของพื้นที่ตรงนั้น และรูปแบบการใช้ชีวิตของผู้ใช้โดยตรง มาเป็นโครงของชิ้นงาน และนำรูปแบบ ทักษะ กับดีเทลงานไม้ของเราไปใส่ เกิดเป็นเรื่องใหม่และความตื่นเต้นอยากเห็นทุกครั้ง ทั้งคนสร้างและคนใช้งาน</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">เวลาเดียวกันกับการเริ่มต้นโรงงาน ธฤต ไทยานนท์ เป็นเด็กชายอายุเก้าขวบที่วิ่งเล่นอยู่ในโรงงานของครอบครัว ซึมซับความรักและความรู้ในงานดีไซน์ผ่านสายตา สัมผัส และความรับรู้ในความงามของเฟอร์นิเจอร์มาตลอด โดยมีคุณพ่อเป็นแรงบันดาลใจและผู้สนับสนุนการเรียนรู้คนสำคัญด้วยการเปิดโอกาสให้เขาได้ทดลองทำ และเก็บเกี่ยวความรู้จากช่างฝีมือด้วยตัวของเขาเอง</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">ความรู้และความรักในงานดีไซน์ค่อยๆ ก่อตัวมาเรื่อยๆ จากการได้ลองผิดลองถูก ได้พัฒนาเทคนิค และเรียนรู้แบบตัวต่อตัวจากประสบการณ์จริงในโรงงาน ยิ่งเป็นแรงขับเคลื่อนให้ธฤตอยากออกค้นหาแง่มุมที่กว้างขวางกว่าของงานดีไซน์ นั่นนำไปสู่การศึกษาต่อในสาขาการออกแบบภายใน มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต เวลานั้นเองที่ความรู้ในภาคทฤษฎีจากในห้องเรียนได้หลอมรวมกับการปฏิบัติจริงที่เคยผูกพันมาโดยตลอด</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: sarabun-regular; font-size: 12pt;">“คุณพ่อไม่เคยสอนเลยว่าจะต้องทำอะไรแบบไหน แต่เป็นผู้สนับสนุนให้ลงมือทำเลย ให้ลองเจอปัญหาด้วยตัวเอง” ธฤตเล่าจนมาถึงเส้นทางการเรียนในห้องเรียน ที่ความรู้ที่สะสมมามีส่วนช่วยอย่างมากในการเปิดจินตนาการใหม่ๆ ในงานออกแบบ “การเรียนรู้จากการลงมือทำดีกว่าแค่เรียนรู้ทฤษฎี ผมเรียนออกแบบเพื่อให้มีความรู้ในทางทฤษฎี และประยุกต์เข้ากับธุรกิจครอบครัว”</span></p>
