SEA, SAND, SUN AND SHOPPING – THE PROGRAM OF THIS BEACHFRONT MALL OFFERS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT SHOPPING EXPERIENCE.
It would come as no surprise if a 3.5-acre-piece of land located right on Hua-Hin Beach ended up being occupied by a middle-sized resort or seaside condominium. But that’s not the case for Seenspace and Akaradej Pantisoontorn. After the project of the same name made its debut in central Thonglor five years ago, the architect turned to Thailand’s famous vacation town with the design of a cluster of low-rise buildings, nine to be exact, connected in one architectural flow under the program of a beachfront mall that offers a totally different shopping experience.
The entire architectural program was reconciled to be in the shape and form of an exposed concrete structure with every building of the mall opening its perspective towards the sea with a plaza that rests itself on the beachfront space along the expansive view of the coastline. What makes Seenspace Hua-Hin even more interesting is the circulation that links all the buildings in the project together, considering the challenge that the architect had to overcome to maintain such flow. Will said attempt be able to bring in the crowds to witness this new spatial experience as shops are marching in and the weekend market is just about to open? Only the ‘users’ can tell.
