TAIWAN’S YSTUDIO AIMS TO AROUSE A SENSE OF “THE WEIGHT OF WORDS” THROUGH A SERIES OF DESIGNS USING BRASS AS THE MAIN MATERIAL.
Taiwan’s ystudio has been devoted to stationery design since 2012. Not just any stationery, though; different from mass-produced stationery and digital devices on the market that facilitate fast writing, brassing ballpoint pen, the studio’s latest addition, encourages users to slow down the writing process. By holding this slightly heavy pen, users will be reminded that each word actually carries power and emotion and thus, we have a certain responsibility for what we convey through paper and pen.
In addition, in order to allow for the pen to become more of a meaningful object than an ordinary writing tool, sandpaper is included in the package, the purpose of which is to invite users to remove the black paint on the top of the brass body according to their preference. While the combination of the golden brass and black paint is absolutely beautiful, the sanded surface does make the product feel more personal and, as the revealed brass oxidizes over time, it then adds depth to the pen, making its one of a kind character prompt users to feel proud of the product and continue to keep and pass it down over time.
