What, truly, defines luxury? Is it a sense of rarity beyond reach, or a design language that stands apart? For acclaimed British designer Katharine Pooley, the answer is remarkably simple. True luxury is grounded in values that endure: ‘Luxury is not a trend, it is timeless’.

As the sole official importer and distributor of THG Paris in Thailand, Crystal Home acts as a visionary curator, bridging design heritage with the contemporary context of the 21st century. Marcel Collection embodies a quiet elegance shaped by simplicity and meticulous detail, transforming the bathroom, a space of everyday ritual, into one defined by character, refinement, and a sense of enduring value, where beauty is woven into every act of use.

The pursuit of beauty in design is a journey carried through time, continually inherited, reinterpreted, and renewed. Looking back to the 1920s, a defining decade of creative ambition and formal experimentation, one work captured the spirit of its era with particular clarity: Marcel Breuer’s tubular steel furniture. Its gleaming steel frame, bent into continuous, elegant lines, supported a canvas seat, backrest, and armrests that appeared almost suspended in midair, allowing the body to sit without coming into direct contact with the structure itself. Although Breuer once described the piece as ‘the most extreme work’ that was also ‘the most logical,’ it would later become a key source of inspiration for Katharine Pooley, who reinterpreted this modern classic through a contemporary lens while preserving its sense of refinement.

Katharine Pooley
Katharine Pooley, an internationally acclaimed designer whose work spans private residences, luxury hospitality projects, and collaborations with many of the world’s leading brands, draws from the elegant linearity of Marcel Breuer’s furniture and translates it through the exceptional craftsmanship of THG Paris. The result is Marcel Collection, a contemporary expression of luxury rooted in clarity, restraint, and exquisite detail.
At the heart of Marcel Collection is a simplicity that has been meticulously refined, allowing each detail to reveal an understated, enduring beauty through everyday use. The precision of each piece also reflects THG Paris’s mastery of craftsmanship and its distinctive approach to production.
The collection is realized through a specialist casting technique that demands absolute precision at every stage, from the handle to the spout. At the end of the faucet, Pooley introduces a subtle irregularity, allowing the edge to shift with a subtle organic rhythm. This gesture takes its cue from the armrest of Breuer’s original chair, translating its line and tactility into a form that is both spare and quietly graceful. Finished in Light Matte Bronze, the pieces gain a soft, velvety surface and a deep interplay of light and shadow. Here, form and handwork converge, giving physical expression to the designer’s concept in a language that feels distinctive, composed, and carefully resolved.

The collection extends this material dialogue further through the introduction of wood, a natural element defined by its individual grain and tactile warmth. Used to temper the precision of the metal lines, timber brings a quieter, more intimate dimension to the series. Crafted by master woodworkers, it creates a rich counterpoint to the metal components while expanding the collection’s material palette, allowing the pieces to sit seamlessly within the bathroom environment.
When function and luxury are able to coexist in balance, a design legacy from the past century can be reimagined through the sensuous qualities of noble materials such as wood and metal, becoming a contemporary expression of taste, beauty, and considered living. It is this sensibility that allows Marcel Collection to challenge the conventional perception of the bathroom as a purely utilitarian space, recasting it instead as a place of well-being, where every element is carefully considered to support rest, restoration, and a genuine sense of equilibrium in daily life.

Marcel Collection is therefore the result of a collaboration between THG Paris and Katharine Pooley that redefines the luxury bathroom by seamlessly blending artistic aesthetics with ultimate relaxation. The same philosophy is reflected in Crystal Home’s commitment to the idea of ‘Luxury Curated for Your Well-being.’ As a curator of world-leading luxury brands, Crystal Home believes that true luxury does not reside in complexity, but reveals itself through beautiful simplicity, transforming private spaces into part of a life lived with greater value and intention.
