Recently founded in 2016, ANONYM is an architecture studio under the direction of Phongphat Ueasangkhomset and Parnduangjai Roojnawate whose extensive experiences in the profession include 10 years of working in Singapore and Thailand (among the projects Ueasangkhomset has done are AIA Sathorn Tower when he was the Architect Director of SLA). ANONYM’s architectural language has evolved from a balance of the relationships between space, humans and the surrounding context.
art4d: Do you think freedom of expression affects one’s creative ability?
ANONYM: Absolutely. If we were limited the freedom to express our opinions or debate over creativity, our creative drive would be limited. Freedom of expression has a great deal of an effect on creativity. We think debate and creative expression of opinion allow for our ideas to develop and create a more interesting dialogue for the work.
art4d: What are you feeling or opinion regarding comments that say your work is very feminine?
ANONYM: I think architecture is unisex either we interpret about beauty which each work have their own. In my opinion ‘female’ mean beauty detail and attention, so I think architecture we must pay attention about work and detail so if I have this opinion, I’ll be okay.
art4d: Who has been the most influential figure for you regarding the way you work?
ANONYM: I don’t have influential artist or designer but I’m interested more about Asian & tropical architecture. Context, environment and application program will influence in our design.
art4d: What is your opinion on the notion of national or regional identity and its role in a creative product?
ANONYM: ‘Identity’ came from each designer who has different context / past / experience that make identity or different taste for each designer that is the true identity.
แม้สตูดิโอแห่งนี้เพิ่งจะเริ่มก่อตั้งเมื่อปี 2016 แต่ประสบการณ์ของ พงศ์ภัทร เอื้อสังคมเศรษฐ์ และ ปานดวงใจ รุจจนเวท สถาปนิกผู้ก่อตั้งทั้งสองของ ANONYM ที่ผ่านการทำงานสถาปัตยกรรมทั้งในไทยและสิงคโปร์มากกว่า 10 ปี ก็ดูจะเป็นเครื่องยืนยันฝีมืออยู่พอสมควร (เช่น อาคาร AIA Sathorn Tower ที่พงศ์ภัทรรับหน้าที่เป็น Architect Director สมัยอยู่ที่ SLA) ผลงานสถาปัตยกรรมของ ANONYM เน้นการออกแบบที่เกิดจากการบาลานซ์ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสเปซ ผู้คน และบริบทแวดล้อม
art4d: เสรีภาพในการแสดงความคิดเห็น ส่งผลต่อขีดความสามารถในการ “คิดสร้างสรรค์” จริงหรือไม่ในความคิดของคุณ
ANONYM: ส่งผลอย่างแน่นอน ถ้าไม่มีใครแสดงความคิดเห็น หรือโต้เถียงในเรื่องความคิดสร้างสรรค์ ก็จะมีแรง drive และแรงผลักดันในความคิดสร้างสรรค์ที่น้อยมาก ฉะนั้นการแสดงความคิดเห็นมีผลต่อความสร้างสรรค์มาก เราว่าบางครั้งการที่เราโต้เถียงหรือแสดงความคิดสร้างสรรค์จะทำให้ต่อยอดทางความคิดในทางที่ดีขึ้น และ สร้าง dialogue ของงานให้น่าสนใจมากขึ้น
art4d: รู้สึก และมีความคิดเห็นอย่างไร เมื่อผลงานของตัวเองโดนคอมเมนต์ว่า “งานดูเป็นผู้หญิงจัง”
ANONYM: ผมว่างานสถาปัตย์กรรมไม่มีการแบ่งแยกเพศครับ นอกซะจากเราตีความถึงความงาม ซึ่งแต่ละงานก็มีความงามแตกต่างกันออกไป
จริงๆแล้ว ในความคิดส่วนตัวคำว่าผู้หญิง บอกถึงความงาม รายละเอียดและความใส่ใจในลายละเอียดเล็กๆน้อยๆ ซึ่งผมมองว่าในงานสถาปัตย์กรรม เราต้องทุ่มเทและให้ความสนใจในเรื่องรายละเอียดและดีเทลงานครับ ฉะนั้นถ้ามีคนคอมเมนท์แบบนี้ ผมก็โอเคครับ
art4d: ใครที่มีอิทธิพลต่อการทำงานของคุณที่สุด
ANONYM: ไม่มีศิลปินหรือนักออกแบบที่มีอิทธิพลต่อการทำงานเป็นหลักครับ แต่เราสนใจและชอบ Asian & tropical architecture มากกว่าครับ ซึ่งบริบท, สภาพแวดล้อม และโปรแกรมการใช้งานในแต่ละโปรเจคจะส่งผลและมีอิทธิพลในงานออกแบบต่อเราครับ
art4d: คิดเห็นอย่างไรกับประเด็นเกี่ยวกับอัตลักษณ์ (identity) ความเป็นชาติ/ภูมิภาคในผลงานสร้างสรรค์
ANONYM: คำว่าอัตลักษณ์มันเกิดจากผู้ออกแบบแต่ละคน ที่มีบริบท / อดีต / ประสบการณ์ ที่ต่างกัน ซึ่งทำให้เกิดอัตลักษณ์ หรือจริตของผู้ออกแบบต่างกันออกไป นั่นคืออัตลักษณ์อย่างแท้จริง
