REDBOYZ & Monsters in Everyday Life grew out of Wattanai’s encounters with the darker emotions and experiences of daily existence: feelings of unease, fear, pain, and discomfort. He transforms these states into surrealist works that depart from reality, using red serving as their dominant visual element.
The meaning of red shifts according to the context of each work. Here, it evokes pain, danger, and death, as well as other intense emotional states. The works are driven largely by a satirical impulse, giving rise to strange creatures and oppressive atmospheres that embody the horrors embedded in ordinary life.
