DINING CHARACTER

SEEN THE CLOTHES, NOW TRY EATING THEM

Many works begin as concepts, but the direction often shifts unless the thinking is sound. Occasionally the concept ends up an interior element of the product and its designer. Consequently, the character cannot be separated from the work or the artist. If this process continues for 20 years or more it inevitably becomes culture. Greyhound the fashion label has been in business for more than 10 years. While many of its contemporaries fell by the wayside, Greyhound has survived and flourished with more branches opening. Greyhound’s style has been sharply honed over the last four or five years and is now instantly recognizable.

This year interior designer Khun Pongtip Kanchananaga has been assigned the new challenge of Greyhound’s Café at the Emporium Shopping Centre, which is Greyhound’s first fashion space that combines dressing and eating.

Access to the café allows a customer to view Greyhound displays while leaving and entering the restaurant. The plan of the store is divided into 2 main sections with the front one featuring a reception with counter bar and two or three chairs creating a friendly atmosphere. Further inside are tables set in a simple and effective design. All materials are in contemporary white tones with cement and polished chromium. The main door is made of mahogany brown, Greyhound’s original signature color.

Khun Pongtip was surprised by art4d’s interest in this project and thinks it still has a long way to go before it looks perfect. In the meantime, he’s having fun working on the project. What is interesting is the metamorphosis of Greyhound and we are happy to watch its progress.
