URBANISM IS INCORPORATED, ADAPTED, INTERPRETED AND BROUGHT BACK AS AN ELEMENT THAT DEFINES THE CHARACTERISTICS OF KLUB-HOTEL BY STUDIOTOFU.
In the eyes of foreign travelers, Pratunam is perceived as one of Bangkok’s most dynamic, diverse, incredibly upbeat and hectic commercial districts. Such identity became inspiration for the team of architects of studiotofu for the design of KLUB-HOTEL located on the busy street of Soi Phetcheburi 13. Urbanism is incorporated, adapted, interpreted and brought back as an element that defines the hotel’s characteristics. The intended result is a distinctive atmosphere that not only stands out from other hotels in the area but also makes the customers want to return.
With one of the key concepts of the design being to turn the hotel’s communal area into somewhat of the lobby of the entire neighborhood, the urban dynamic is presented in the program. The bright red lobby clashes with the exposed concrete surface of the staircase leading up to the second floor where one comes across a spacious hall with dramatic decoration of seemingly simple yet complicatedly fabricated details and a vivacious use of colors plus the glossy finish of the materials. Collectively, the design of the interior and architectural elements reflect the neighborhood’s eclectic image from the floor and ceiling to even the tables. Apart from the details of the materials, events such as a mini theatre, outdoor cinema screenings, bookstands or pool tables add that urban spirit to the hotel while increasing the visitors’ interest in the space. The city’s flamboyant persona makes its way down to the hotel’s rooms in the shape and form of the decorative details of the graphics and is accentuated by the dark blue of the atrium, which rises through the building’s stories.
The arrival of KLUB-HOTEL has definitely brought about an unprecedented excitement that could potentially stimulate the owners and developers of the spaces in the Pratunam district to figure out something that better resonates with market changes.
