HELD FOR FOUR CONSECUTIVE YEARS, HOTEL ART FAIR WELCOMED OVER 30 ARTISTS, GALLERIES AND DESIGN STUDIOS TO RENT SPACES IN VOLVE HOTEL BANGKOK FOR BUYERS TO TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT THEY HAVE TO OFFER.
The lists of artists and designers participating in the event range from household names such as PRACTICAL Design Studio and BANGKOK CITYCITY GALLERY to newbies like Tentacles and independent collectors such as Chomwan Weeraworawit who showcased her private collections. This year was also interesting for the fact that we were able to see the presence of non-profit art organizations like BACC having their very own spaces as well. The word on the street was that BACC selected artists from its EARLY YEARS PROJECT to create works specifically for this year’s Hotel Art Fair with the venue (a room in Volve Hotel Bangkok) serving as the context and subject matter while the money from every purchase went directly to the artists. The night saw the enthusiastic participation of the art and design scene crowds with the number of people that showed up being a rather precise indicator of the fair’s success. After four years, we can tell that Hotel Art Fair is still one of the most anticipated art events of the year and today it isn’t an overstatement to say that there are many people out there who would like for it to be more than just an annual event. Looking at what Hotel Art Fair has been contributing to the industry, it’s undeniable that the event is one of the strongest supporters of Thai artists’ professional standards. Seeing some interesting dialogues between the creators and buyers happening in the space of Volve Hotel Bangkok is therefore somewhat of a solid and delightful guarantee of the growing number of followers, buyers and art enthusiasts in the country.
