Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, Germany, recently announced this year’s artist-in-residence program. The theme, ‘Mutations’ aims to promote the creation of multicultural and multidisciplinary dialogues between people with backgrounds in the arts, sciences, and humanities. The artist-in-residence program welcomes talents from various creative disciplines, including Visual arts, Aural & Physical arts, Digital arts, Spatial arts, Textural arts, Societal and Scientific arts. TANK SHANGHAI
แทงก์บรรจุน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิงเครื่องบินเก่าๆ ห้าลูกที่สนามบิน Longhua ในเซี่ยงไฮ้ ถูกเปลี่ยนเป็นสวนศิลปะและวัฒนธรรม “TANK Shanghai” ออกแบบโดยสตูดิโอสถาปนิกท้องถิ่น OPEN Architecture หลังจากใช้เวลานานกว่าหกปีในการออกแบบและก่อสร้าง TANK Shanghai ก็ได้เปิดตัวขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 23 มีนาคมที่ผ่านมา
“โครงการนี้เป็นเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับการปรากฏตัวครั้งใหม่ของพื้นที่ทางอุตสาหกรรมที่ถูกทิ้งร้าง ภายใต้โจทย์ของการพัฒนาเมืองในยุคสมัยใหม่ด้วยการปรับปรุงให้เป็นพื้นที่ทางธรรมชาติและศิลปะ” สตูดิโอที่นำโดยสถาปนิก Li Hu และ Huang Wenjing กล่าวถึงโปรเจ็คต์ชิ้นนี้
โครงการออกแบบนี้เชื่อมพื้นที่แต่ละแทงก์ด้วย “super-surface” ทางเดินรูปตัว Z ที่เกิดขึ้นจากปรับระดับพื้นดินขึ้นใหม่ จากเดิมที่เป็นพื้นคอนกรีตเรียบๆ เพื่อสร้างทางเดินเชื่อมต่อพื้นที่ของแต่ละอาคารเข้าด้วยกัน นอกจากนี้ทีมสถาปนิกยังได้ปรับปรุงระบบนิเวศรอบๆ ด้วยการปลูกป่าเลียนแบบธรรมชาติ เพื่อสร้างบรรยากาศให้ผู้คนสามารถเคลื่อนไหวได้อย่างอิสระท่ามกลางธรรมชาติและศิลปะ
แทงก์เชื้อเพลิงทั้งห้าต่างได้รับการปรับปรุงให้กลายเป็นพื้นที่จัดกิจกรรม ถังหนึ่งได้กลายเป็นพื้นที่สำหรับการแสดงดนตรีสด ขณะที่อีกถังกลายมาเป็นร้านอาหาร และอีกสามถังที่เหลือต่างก็ถูกปรับปรุงเป็นพื้นที่จัดแสดงงานศิลปะและแกลเลอรี่ ซึ่งในขณะนี้กำลังจัดแสดงนิทรรศการ ‘Universe of Water Particles in the Tank’ โดย teamLab ขณะที่อีกสองถังเป็นนิทรรศการ ‘Under Construction’ โดยกลุ่มศิลปินจีนร่วมสมัย และโซโล่โดย Adrián Villar Rojas ประติมากรชาวอาร์เจนติน่า
Five disused aviation fuel tanks, in Shanghai’s former Longhua Airport site, have been transformed into the ‘TANK Shanghai’ art and culture park. The space is designed by local architecture studio OPEN Architecture, which led the entire spatial project. It took a total of six years for the design and construction to reach completion, and it opened to the public on 23rd March 2019.
“The project is about the reemergence of a once deserted industrial space, under the challenge of modern urban development, through the revamp of the landscape into the space where art and nature collides,” said Li Hu and Huang Wenjing, Principal Architects at OPEN Architecture.
The five tanks are regenerated as a series of activity spaces. One has been turned into a space for live musical performances, while another has been turned into a restaurant. The remaining three tanks are designated as art spaces and galleries. One of them is currently hosting teamLab’s ‘Universe of Water Particles in the Tank’ installation. The other two tanks are exhibiting ‘Under Construction’ by a group of Chinese contemporary artists, and a solo exhibition by Argentinian sculptor Adrián Villar Rojas.

“ไม่มีประวัติศาสตร์ในห้องที่เต็มไปด้วยผู้คนที่มีชื่อตลกๆ 5” โดย กรกฤต อรุณานนท์ชัย และ Alex Gvojic (ร่วมกับ boychild) นิทรรศการล่าสุดของกรกฤตหลังจากจัดการแสดงครั้งแรกที่กรุงเทพฯ เมื่อ 3 ปีก่อนในปี 2559 นิทรรศการครั้งนี้เป็นการประกอบร่างใหม่ของความคิดที่ต่อเนื่องของกรกฤต และการทำงานร่วมกันกับ Alex Gvojic และ boychild ในช่วงเวลากว่า 6 ปีที่ผ่านมา นิทรรศการจะจัดแสดงที่บางกอก ซิตี้ซิตี้ แกลเลอรี่ ระหว่างวันที่ 20 เมษายน – 19 พฤษภาคม 2562 และงานเปิดนิทรรศการจะมีขึ้นในวันเสาร์ที่ 20 เมษายนนี้ ติดตามรายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมได้ทาง bit.ly/2Ue1OWe
This exhibition by Korakrit Arunanondchai is the Thai artist’s first appearance since his debut show in Bangkok three years ago. The exhibition reassembles traces of Arunanondchai’s ongoing thoughts around art, as well as his collaborations with Alex Gvojic and boychild over the past 6 years. The journal ‘Southeast of Now: Directions in Contemporary and Modern Art in Asia’ is offering fellowship positions for emerging writers. The fellowship comes with a grant for in-depth research and writing, which can be monographic in focus or take a comparative approach, and may encompass modern or contemporary art, broadly conceived, centering on any locations in Southeast Asia. The chosen candidates have the opportunity to work under the mentorship of leading experts in their field, and the selected essays will be published in a special Emerging Writers Fellowship section in the Southeast of Now journal, both in print and online.
