สถานการณ์ในประเทศไทยตอนนี้มาถึงจุดที่ทหารออกมาเดินนอกค่าย และศิลปินได้เข้าไปทำงานศิลปะในค่ายทหาร
Noir Row Art Space ต่อยอดความสนใจของตัวเองในประวัติศาสตร์เมืองอุดรธานี ที่มีหลายเลเยอร์ ถูกทับถมด้วยระลอกการเปลี่ยนแปลงหลายๆ ครั้งที่เข้ามาในจังหวัด ซึ่งหนึ่งในนั้นคือการเข้ามาของทหารอเมริกันในยุคสงครามเวียดนามเพื่อใช้พื้นที่จังหวัดอุดรธานีเป็นฐานทัพ และนิทรรศการ PARALLEL: The Ramasun Station Art Trail ก็ใช้หนึ่งในร่องรอยของอเมริกาที่ยังเหลืออยู่ในพื้นที่ปัจจุบันอย่าง ร.13 พัน.1 (ค่ายรามสูร) ฐานทัพดาวเทียมของอเมริกาเป็นที่จัดนิทรรศการในครั้งนี้
นิทรรศการมีศิลปินเข้าร่วมทั้งหมด 18 คน (สามารถเข้าไปดูได้ในเฟสบุ๊กเพจของกิจกรรมได้ที่นี่) ผลงานถูกติดตั้งกระจายไปตามจุดต่างๆ ของค่าย ตั้งแต่ อาคารเรดาร์ ในอุโมงค์ใต้ดิน อาคารปฏิบัติการ สระว่ายน้ำทิ้งร้าง โรงภาพยนตร์เก่า และโรงยิม โดยในวันที่ 9 มิถุนายน ที่ผ่านมาก็ได้มีการจัดกิจกรรมฉายภาพยนตร์ 3 เรื่อง หนึ่งในนั้นคือ No history in a room filled with people with funny names 5 โดยกรกฤต อรุณานนท์ชัย ที่ช่วงตอนหนึ่งของหนังใช้ค่ายรามสูรแห่งนี้เป็นที่ถ่ายทำ
ติดตามบทวิจารณ์นิทรรศการฉบับเต็มได้ทาง art4d เร็วๆ นี้ แต่สิ่งที่เราไปเห็นมาและคิดว่าน่าสนใจคือประสบการณ์ที่ได้จากพื้นที่จัดแสดง โดยเฉพาะการเดินลอดอุโมงค์ใต้ดิน หรือในซากปรักหักพังของอาคารปฏิบัติการที่งานศิลปะเข้าไปมีปฏิสัมพันธ์กับสเปซได้ดีทีเดียว PARALLEL: The Ramasun Station Art Trail จะจัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 8 – 30 มิถุนายน นี้ ถ้าใครมีโอกาสแวะไปเราขอแนะนำให้ลองสแกน QR โค้ดบนโฟมที่ลอยอยู่ในสระว่ายน้ำกันดู
The current situation in Thailand is one where the soldiers are strutting outside of their bases, while the artists are the ones occupying such spaces with their art works.
NOIR ROW ART SPACE continues its interest in the history of Udon Thani, a town that has gone through many changes, one of which is the American military occupation during the Vietnam War. ‘PARALLEL: The Ramasun Station Art Trail’ employs what remains of this period in Udon Thani history like the Ramasun Camp, a radar base of the U.S. Army, in the exhibition.
The exhibition features 18 artists (for the full list of artists, see here) films were screened on 9 June, one of which was video artist Korakrit Arunanondchai’s‘No history in a room filled with people with funny names 5.’ Part of the film had the Ramasun Camp as its setting.
art4d will soon make available an extended review of the exhibition. In the meantime, however, we would like to note that what we found fascinating was the experience of being in the exhibition space, especially that of walking through the underground tunnel and the operation building’s ruins; here, the relationship between the art and the space was executed well.
