A STATE IN PLAY
SingaPlural Celebrating Design
March 5-18, 2018
at National Design Centre, Singapore
SingaPlural 2018, an annual design event that has been held under the umbrella of Singapore Design Week since 2012, this year comes with the theme ‘A State In Play,’ emphasizing the state of work before design begins.
About SingaPlural 2018
Through the collaboration of Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC), the organizer, and support from DesignSingapore Council, International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, the Singapore Tourism Board and SPRING Singapore, SingaPlural 2018 not only provides a freeform platform for designers to explore new opportunities within design but also experiment with a unique design approach free of any fear of failures and waste that allows for participants to discover their full potential while also adjoining the space to connect with the public and the design industry worldwide.
This year’s event consists of many interesting events ranging from a master lecture by renowned designers such as Ben Koren from ONE TOONE and Steffen Riegas form Herzong&deMeuron. Also, exhibitions featuring various creatives will be held such as TAKE A PEAK by Antallis x META Studio, HIDDEN GEM by Cellini x Djain x etc lab and, the highlight, FORMICA FOR MORE by Formica X PRODUCE.
Formica in SingaPlural
The central pavilion at SingaPlural 2018 is an exploration into laminate as a material rather than what it has become known for previously. Through long-period material studies, Formica and PRODUCE will showcase a new way of using laminate products within the pavilion structure itself, the display table, umbrella stands, and the legs of tables and chairs. Therefore, these new ways of using laminate will expand the audience’s perception of laminate products. Laminate is no longer only a material for covering other surfaces, but is also becoming something else beyond what it has been used for in the past.
Visit us at the central pavilion and see what else laminate can be. See you at SingaPlural, National Design Centre from 5-18 March
