LIV_ID x GALLERIES’ NIGHT 2018 + SONY

FOR THE GALLERIES’ NIGHT 2018 EVENT ORGANIZED BY THE FRENCH EMBASSY OF THAILAND, LIV_ID COLLECTIVE PARTNERED UP WITH SONY TO PRESENT KEEPSAKE, A MOBILE VIDEO ART EXPERIENCE.

Liv_id, a Bangkok-based artist-run collective,
positions works of video art as disruptor, experiment and pause for thought. Connecting maker and crowd, they aim to facilitate dialog beyond typical boundary.

For this year’s Galleries’ Night 2018 event organized by the French Embassy of Thailand, the collective partnered up with SONY to present Keepsake, a mobile video art experience. During the two-night event, screens provided by SONY were installed in tuk-tuk’s transporting viewers between the 50+ galleries participating in the event. Each screen showcased short video art pieces from 5 Thai and 5 international artists including Kawita Vatanajyankur, Yuree Kensaku, Nuankhanit Phromchanya, Piyarat Piyapongwiwat, Wilawan Wiangthong, Rebecca Vickers, Adrienne Elise Tarver, Alexandra Hammond, Julie Weitz and Katya Yakubov.

The works focused on a concept of ‘Keepsake,’ considering how through a questioning of the quality and character of what can be kept as a memento, artists continuously confront the act of saving through lens intervention, recording what is being lost and envisioning what might be.

The approximately 35-minute loop of video art screened in each tuk-tuk allowed for viewers to experience the works of between one and two artists per ride while traveling between galleries and marked the first time a show of this nature has been curated in Bangkok.
