ในช่วงค่ำทุกวันพุธ คอลัมน์ CRITICAL จะมาพบกับผู้อ่านพร้อมกับเรื่องราวของมุมมองที่เป็นอีกหนึ่งจุดเปลี่ยนทางความคิด (critical view) สำหรับใครก็ตามที่กำลังค้นหา และอยากทำความเข้าใจเรื่องการออกแบบ ศิลปะ และสถาปัตยกรรมที่อยู่รอบตัว เหตุผลที่เราตั้งใจทำให้คอลัมน์นี้เกิดขึ้นมา ก็เพื่อเป็นพื้นที่สำหรับการเปิดประเด็นว่า ในวันนี้เรามีเรื่องอะไรที่ต้องคิดเพื่อรับมือกับอนาคตบ้าง รวมถึงเรามีจินตนาการถึงความเป็นอยู่ของเราในอนาคตที่ไกลออกไปข้างหน้าอย่างไร
หลายปีที่ผ่านมามีความเปลี่ยนแปลงเกิดขึ้นอย่างมากมายในโลกของสื่อ พฤติกรรมในการเรียนรู้โลกรอบตัวของคนเปลี่ยนไป เราใช้ชีวิตในโลกแห่งเศรษฐศาสตร์ของเวลา ที่กิจกรรมต่างๆ มีการทิ้งร่องรอยให้บันทึก วัดค่า รวบรวมให้เป็นกลุ่มเป็นก้อน เพื่อนำไปใช้ในการคาดการณ์พฤติกรรมของคนหมู่มากต่อไป “ใครก็ตาม” ที่ฉวยความสนใจของสาธารณะได้ ย่อมได้เวลาของผู้คนเหล่านั้นไปพร้อมกับข้อมูลการใช้เวลาของพวกเขา จากนั้นก็นำมันไปแปรเปลี่ยนเป็นมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจในทางใดทางหนึ่ง
ในโลกดิจิตอล ทุกอย่างตรวจวัดได้ แต่ในขณะเดียวกัน ตัวเลขสถิติก็เป็นสิ่งที่ซื้อหาได้ไม่ยาก
ฉะนั้น กรอบคิดที่มากับการอยู่ร่วมกับโลกดิจิตอล และการตรวจจับความเปลี่ยนแปลงต่างๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นในโลกกายภาพ และโลกที่ทั้งกายภาพและดิจิตอลมาผสานเข้าด้วยกันอย่าง mixed reality จึงเป็นสิ่งที่กองบรรณาธิการของเราให้ความสนใจ
คอลัมน์นี้จึงเป็นพื้นที่ของการค้นหาเครื่องมือในการทำความเข้าใจชีวิตและพฤติกรรมร่วมสมัยของคนเมือง และตั้งถามต่อไปว่า เราจะออกแบบอย่างไรให้เหมาะกับรูปแบบชีวิตของมนุษย์ที่จะวิวัฒนาการไปในอนาคตอันใกล้นี้ แน่นอนว่าเราจะไม่หยุดอยู่แค่พื้นที่ของ art4d DIGITAL
ทุกครั้งที่เรามีโอกาส เราจะชวนคนอ่านของเรามาเจอหน้า มานั่งดื่ม นั่งคุยเสวนากัน เพื่อให้ CRITICAL ไม่หยุดอยู่แค่การเป็นพื้นที่ของการนำเสนอจุดเปลี่ยนทางความคิด แต่ยังเป็นพื้นที่ที่เชื่อมต่อโลก online และ offline เข้าด้วยกันจริงๆ และแน่นอนว่าที่นี่จะเป็นพื้นที่เปิดสำหรับ “ใครก็ตาม” ที่สนใจจะเข้ามาแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดกันเสมอ
ในวันนี้ บทบาทของสื่อจึงจำเป็นต้องเปลี่ยน มันเป็นทั้งการเปลี่ยนเพื่ออยู่รอด และเปลี่ยนเพื่อเติบโตต่อไปในป่ากลายพันธุ์ที่มนุษย์และอมนุษย์อยู่ร่วมกัน แน่นอนว่ามุมมองของเราที่มีต่อโลกก็ย่อมจะวิวัฒน์ หรือกลายพันธุ์ไปพร้อมกับระบบนิเวศรอบตัวเช่นกัน กองบรรณาธิการเองก็รู้สึกสนุกและตื่นเต้นไปกับการเฝ้าตามดูว่า เส้นทางสำรวจโลกรอบตัวแบบบ้านๆ ของพวกเรา จะพาเราไปเจอกับอะไรบ้าง
ในสัปดาห์ถัดจากนี้ไป เราจะเปิดพื้นที่นี้ให้ผู้คนจากทั้งในสาขาสถาปัตยกรรม ศิลปะ และการออกแบบ มาร่วมนำเสนอมุมมองที่เป็นจุดเปลี่ยนในการคิดและการมองสิ่งรอบตัว โดยเริ่มจาก ผศ.ดร.ม.ล.จิตตวดี จิตรพงศ์ ที่จะมาเล่าถึงประสบการณ์ของการทำความเข้าใจเรื่องราวของต้นไม้ในกรุงเทพฯ และ ผศ.ดร.อภิวัฒน์ รัตนวราหะ ถึงเรื่องราวของมนุษย์เมืองในปัจจุบัน (และอนาคต)
สุดท้ายนี้ ถ้าผู้อ่านมีความคิดเห็นอยากโต้ตอบ พูดคุยถึงมุมมองที่เป็นจุดเปลี่ยนในการคิดกับสิ่งรอบตัว ทางกองบรรณาธิการก็ยินดีรับพิจารณาข้อเขียนของท่านเช่นกัน
Every Wednesday evening, the CRITICAL column will come to meet its reader with a story offering a critical view for anyone who is searching and curious to understand more about the contemporary design, art, and architecture around us. What motivated us to create this column was our intention to create a space for open discussion around the many issues we need to consider in order to cope with the future as well as raise questions as to how we imagine our lives to be in the far distant future?
There have been many changes in the media world over the years. People’s behaviors in terms of how they learn about the world are consistently changing. We live in a world and economic times where various activities leave digital traces to be recorded and measured, which then accumulate in significant amounts so that they can be used to anticipate the behaviors of people. “Anyone” who can grab the public’s attention will collect not only their time but also insights into the patterns of how that time is spent which can be transformed into economic value.
In the digital world, everything is measured, but those statistical numbers can be easily purchased at the same time.
Therefore, the editorial team is interested in the thinking framework that comes along with the experience of living in the digital world and the detection of changes that happen in the physical world as well as this mixed reality in which both the physical and digital worlds merge together.
This column will serve as a space to search for effective tools to understand contemporary life and the behaviors of urbanized people. Moreover, it will ask further, how do we design to suit human life forms that will keep evolving in the immediate future? Indeed, we won’t stop just within the art4d Digital.
Every time we have a chance, we will invite our readers to come face-to-face, sit for a drink and talk to each other so that CRITICAL will not stop at being just only a space for presenting critical views. It is really an area where the online and offline worlds connect together. And of course, there will always be an open space for “anyone” who is interested to exchange ideas.
Today, the role of the media needs to be changed. It is both a chance to survive as well as to grow further in the mutated forest where human and non-human agents stay together. Of course, our view of the world will inevitably evolve or mutate within the surrounding ecosystems. The editorial team feels fun and excited to observe what we can see along this path leading us to explore the world around us.
In the next weeks, we will open this area to people from the architecture, art and design scenes to present their critical perspective or other ways of looking at and thinking about things, starting with Asst. Prof. Dr. ML Chittawadi Chitrabongs who will tell us about her experience of understanding the trees in Bangkok and Asst. Prof. Dr. Apiwat Ratanawaraha who will discuss the urbanized man “homo urbanus” in the present (and future).
