IT’S NOT EVERY DAY THAT ONE GETS TO EMBRACE THE DAY’S START WITH A DOSE OF GRAPHIC GOODNESS, OR IN 2017, PERHAPS IT IS! – AS EVERYDAY GRAPHIC CALENDAR BY SEOUL-BASED PEOPOLET OFFERS UP A GOOD GRAPHIC MORNING FOR EACH AND EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR.
Everyday Graphic Calendar is a self-initiated project released under Ordinary People’s brand ‘Peopolet’ that creates products centered within the realm of graphic design exploring various forms of media. The calendar mimics the design of traditional daily calendars one is undoubtedly familiar with, all the while incorporating a new graphic doodle designed specifically and solely for each day only onto the page.
“Daily calendars were frequently used by earlier generations and are occasionally seen these days, but they looked fresh and intriguing to us,” described Peopolet. While the date can nowadays be easily found on any phone or personal gadget, these daily calendars invite the viewer to physically turn and tear each page, giving not only importance to the passing of time but also emphasizing a notion of ‘newness’ as each new image is revealed. “By designing 365 graphics for each of the 365 days, we hope to convey the value of the daily calendar’s design,” furthered Peopolet.
It is true that each day is unlike any other and this graphic form of celebrating the passing and coming of time therefore offers not only function but also provides opportunity to slow down and consider how individual and unique each rise, set and time between the two of the sun is, or could, be. “Composed through a new perspective and touch, we hope that this daily calendar will become a beloved item by our generation, providing a source of excitement for someone to begin a day with, while also offering up the joy of peeking into a graphic design studio’s doodle pad.”
