WHO
IS-Studio Design was founded on the principles of independence and significance, symbolized by the acronym ‘IS,’ which represents ‘what we are currently becoming.’ We are an architectural and interior design studio that emphasizes conveying identity through architectural language. The studio was established by Jom (Pakasit Anusorntararak) and Bank (Panuwat Chumpoowang), whom we persuaded to join the studio as younger colleagues.
WHAT
IS-Studio specializes in architectural and interior design, with a primary focus on designing cafes and restaurants. We emphasize brand building and conveying the client’s identity through architectural language and details. For residential projects, we prioritize fulfilling homeowners’ needs and reflecting their unique identities, believing that ‘a home reflects its inhabitant.’
WHEN
After working for a company for some time, we began taking on freelance projects. With guidance and opportunities from senior colleague Kittichon Phukiatkong of Octane Architect & Design, we decided to establish the studio in 2019.
WHERE
We chose Phrae Province as the base for IS-Studio, it is our hometown where the family resides.
WHY
IS-Studio aims to be a design studio that prioritizes a creative process which not only meets clients’ needs but also expresses their identities through the nuances of architectural work.
How would you describe your work?
Our style is defined by reflecting the client’s identity through the language and details embedded in our architectural work, creating memorable experiences and distinct impressions.
What is your inspiration and guiding principle for each creation?
Our inspiration comes from the joy of creating something alongside our clients and seeing our ideas materialize. We focus on exploring and understanding the essence of each project, translating it into concepts that evolve into tangible architectural realities.
What project are you most proud of?
We take pride in every project due to their unique challenges. If we must highlight one, it would be the design of the Little One cafe リッタンワン. This project solidified our approach and conviction, encouraging us to confidently pursue our path.
Which stage of the design process do you like the most?
We find each phase of the design uniquely enjoyable, but the greatest joy comes when our ideas begin to take clear shape, leaving us eagerly anticipating the completion of the project.
If you could invite a ‘creative’ to coffee, who would you invite and why?
We would invite Suparat Chinathaworn for coffee. We admire his work approach and philosophy, which has inspired us to learn and explore further.
