EKAR’s past works range from a the Multi-Place, a building that combines residential and commercial spaces which was shortlisted for the Architizer A+ Awards and World Architecture News Awards to the Pusayapuri building currently under construction in Suphan Buri province. The works often reflect an exciting dynamic between the use of materials and the site’s context, making EKAR a highly promising firm.

Another design studio with an interesting design characteristic, Atelier 2+ has two founders (Ada Chirakranont and Worapong Manupipatpong) both with backgrounds in interior design. This explains why Atelier 2+’s approach toward space is different, especially in the way that they question the ‘words’ that divide one certain genre of design from another and, for example, whether architecture can be viewed as sculpture or a product can be perceived as a sculptural work. Such questions bring Atelier 2+’s works the element of ambiguity that interestingly calls for users’ interpretations.

Founded in 2008 by Decha Archjananun and Ploypan Theerachai, THINKK Studio’s design practice ranges from small-scale decorative objects and furniture to hotels. In addition to the studio’s own projects, the design team takes part in the development of design products for local crafts communities under the brand THINGG, including providing design consultancy services for manufacturers and entrepreneurs and curating exhibitions. The studio’s first exhibition in Bangkok, Thinkk Together, recently took place as a part of Bangkok Design Week 2018.

PERFORMANCE ARTIST, 1987
The artist whose performance art videos show herself being represented by a broom, scale, clothes rack, ice shaver, etc. With the physicality of a female body, it’s unavoidable that her works have been used for feminist purposes but if we were to rule out the gender issue, what Vatanajyankur discusses in her work is essentially the human condition where people are forced by the society to work in exchange for their social statuses.

TUNLAYA DUNNVATANACHIT

Tunlaya Dunnvatanachit, a graphic designer who made a name for herself following the cartoon characters she drew on her own Facebook page ‘TUNA Dunn.’ The clean, simple drawing and straightforward but appealing storytelling caused her character to become widely known within a short period of time. As an illustrator, in 2016, she was selected by The Jam Factory Magazine to represent Thailand’s young artists and showcase her works at UNKNOWN ASIA OSAKA 2016. Dunnvatanachit is also one of the 11 female artists from all over the world whose works were featured in Women’s Day Google Doodle 2018.

Atelier 2+ เป็นสตูดิโอออกแบบที่มีคาแร็คเตอร์การทำงานที่น่าสนใจ ด้วยการมีพื้นฐานด้านการออกแบบภายในของทั้งคู่ (อดา จิระกรานนท์ และ วรพงศ์ มนูพิพัฒน์พงศ์) ทำให้ Atelier 2+ มีมุมมองต่อ “พื้นที่” แตกต่างออกไป โดยเฉพาะการตั้งคำถามกับ “คำ” ที่เป็นเส้นแบ่งประเภทงานออกแบบ ว่าจะมองว่างานสถาปัตยกรรมเป็นงานประติมากรรม หรือกลับกันว่าจะมองงานโปรดักท์เป็นงานประติมากรรมได้หรือไม่การตั้งคำถามแบบนี้ทำให้งานออกแบบของ Atelier 2+ มีความก้ำกึ่ง และเรียกร้องการตีความจากผู้ใช้งานได้อย่างน่าสนใจ

พลอยพรรณ ธีรชัย, 1981
ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี 2008 โดยเดชา อรรจนานันท์ และพลอยพรรณ ธีรชัย THINKK Studio ทำงานหลากหลายรูปแบบตั้งแต่ของตกแต่งขนาดเล็ก เฟอร์นิเจอร์ ไปจนถึงการออกแบบโรงแรม นอกจากการทำงานในสตูดิโอแล้ว พวกเขายังช่วยพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑ์ให้กับชุมชนที่ทำงานฝีมือ (ในแบรนด์ THINGG) เป็นที่ปรึกษาให้กับผู้ผลิต และเป็นภัณฑารักษ์ให้กับนิทรรศการ ล่าสุด THINKK Studio เพิ่งมีนิทรรศการแรกในกรุงเทพฯ ไปในงาน Bangkok Design Week 2018 ในชื่อ Thinkk Together

ศิลปินวิดีโอเพอฟอร์แมนซ์อาร์ตที่พยายามแทนตัวเองเป็นไม้กวาด ตาชั่ง ราวตากผ้า เครื่องไสน้ำแข็ง ฯลฯ ด้วยร่างกายที่เป็นเพศหญิง จึงหลีกเลี่ยงไม่ได้ที่ผลงานของเธอจะถูกนำไปเป็นตัวแทนการเรียกร้องสิทธิสตรี (ในวันสิทธิสตรีโลก) แต่ในอีกด้านหนึ่ง ถ้าตัดเรื่องเพศออกไป สิ่งที่กวิตาพูดผ่านผลงานก็คือเรื่อง Human Condition ที่ชีวิตถูกสังคมกำหนดให้ต้องทำงานเพื่อแลกกับจุดยืนในสังคม

ตุลยา ตุลย์วัฒนจิต เป็นกราฟิกดีไซเนอร์ที่โด่งดังขึ้นมาจากการวาดการ์ตูนบนเพจของเธอเองที่ใช้ชื่อว่า TUNA Dunn และด้วยทั้งลายเส้นที่เรียบง่าย การเล่าเรื่องที่ตรงไปตรงมา (แต่ไม่น่าเบื่อ) ก็ทำให้เธอเป็นที่จดจำอย่างรวดเร็วในการทำงานด้านภาพประกอบ เธอได้รับเลือกจาก The Jam Factory Magazine ในปี 2016 ให้เป็นตัวแทนศิลปินหน้าใหม่ของไทยไปจัดแสดงงานที่ UNKNOWN ASIA OSAKA 2016 ล่าสุด เธอยังได้เป็นหนึ่งในศิลปินหญิง 11 คนทั่วโลกที่เข้าร่วมในโครงการ Women’s Day Google Doodle 2018 อีกด้วย
