LOWERLINE STUDIO

PHOTO COURTESY OF LOWERLINE STUDIO EXCEPT AS NOTED

WHO
Founded by architecture and visual art enthusiast, Warut Duangkaewkart, who has been working in several fields such as architecture, event design, exhibition design, photograph and visual art.

WHAT
lowerline studio is designed to be a platform for various creativity fields; to study and communicate about the relationship between human, space, and environment.

WHEN
Began since 2015, but was entitled as “lowerline studio” in 2019.

WHERE
Bangkok based, but also everywhere.

WHY
Every place has a story. The main concept is perception behind our visualized, which is why each line has its own importance even though it’s lower than what you see.

HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE CREATIVITY?
It’s the way of looking at things (words from Peter Zumthor’s book ‘Thinking Architecture’). Our creativity is about how we deal with the area space, place, perception, and emotion.

DESCRIBE YOUR PRACTICE IN THREE WORDS.
Specific, existence and boundary

WHERE DO YOU GO, OR WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU GET STUCK ON A PROJECT?
Stay there a bit longer; ฺ Be kind with them just like hanging-out with a friend.

WHAT PROJECT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
A series of Chiang Mai’s projects: ‘plain’ ‘line’ and ‘structure’, which talks about the relationship around us (human, space, and environment) in three specific locations. The project series later become the overall conceptual idea of the work after that.

IF YOU COULD INVITE ANY CREATIVE OUT FOR COFFEE, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
A session with my favorite artist and designer would be great. Peter Zumthor, Tadao Ando, Paul Rudolph, Geoffrey Bawa, Sol LeWitt, Andy Goldsworthy and Richard Long.
