WHO
We’re a small group of folks trying to accomplish our work while also growing professionally and personally through our design.
WHAT
We began with a landscaping project on such a modest scale where we had to do everything ourselves. Then we got the opportunity to work on more projects ranging from interior styling to interior and landscape design. We also collaborated with sculptural teams on landscape projects. We may say that our studio sells style.
WHEN
We began our first project in 2014, before settling on the name Lana.
WHERE
The team members live in different locations, however we collaborate online and in person.
WHY
I believe it has something to do with when I was a kid and watched these space movies, thinking about how I wanted to create the cool-looking settings and stuff in those movies. I also had a nanny who loved gardening and a mother who enjoyed sitting outside with a glass of wine. I believe it is the combination of all of these factors that makes me desire to be a landscape designer before Lana was born.
I think it’s the freedom I had growing up that has led to Lana being a studio with a lot of freedom, whether it’s in how we work or the variety of projects we work on. We enjoy working on all types of work.
What does “creativity” mean to you?
The stage in which you let your ideas flow and forget about all the constraints and restrictions for a moment.
What inspires you and serves as your guiding principle for each project?
Everything inspires me, including the way I live, my clothes, my friends, and the movies I watch. Inspiration can strike me while driving or when I’m not doing anything. There really isn’t any limit to it.I believe I simply need to live in order to learn and experience new things, as well as spend enough time with myself to create these spaces or moments for these drives and ideas to enter.
What is your most proud project, and why?
Everything that I am assigned to create and accomplish, whether by the Lana team or with other collaborators, including clients, who go through the entire process until the work is completed. I’m proud of every aspect of the work we are able to deliver. It makes no difference whether they are the same as what I had envisioned or something quite different. It’s everyone’s achievement, which is already incredibly pretty cool.
Which plant is your favorite?
It keeps changing. This is a question I cannot answer (laugh).
If you could ask one creative person to coffee, who would it be and why?
Thai comedian, Udom Taepanich. I believe he has all of these colors, which have been combined to create something cool and profound. He’s like this box full of wisdom and experiences from which I believe I can learn. He appears to be in a point in his life where he is really peaceful and content. It’s as though he’s begun a new chapter in his life. If he were a book, I’d consider myself quite fortunate if I could read it. In response to your previous question about where I get my inspiration, I remember seeing his exhibition and feeling incredibly inspired. I think he is one of the possible answers to that question.
