“Indonesia is more than just batik – we are global citizens and I want to communicate design which reflect how humans live today. That is also our design philosophy – we want long-lasting designs which stand the test of time, as we want our furniture to last for generations.” said Karina Cheung, the creative leader of BIKA Living.

To ensure that BIKA’s furniture stands the test of time, Karina works to procure the best raw materials available – wood – from a number of global suppliers. “Wood is nature’s art as it takes many years to grow and for its beauty to develop. We source wood from Europe, North American and locally, and use American hardwoods for many of our furniture pieces due to the variety in grain patterns across different species and reliability in quality. Any company can make wooden furniture but at BIKA we’re looking to create furniture with a soul.”

With the use of fine materials and a commitment to quality in manufacturing, BIKA is a refreshing change from ‘disposable furniture’ brands and aims to create timeless furniture pieces which last for generations – creating tomorrow’s antiques today.
