To step into Dii Wellness Med Spa is to immerse oneself into the depth of another world.

In contrast with the stark whiteness of its context of a shopping mall, Dii’s reception frontage is a sleek dark space with five featured luminous spiral prisms that seem to stretch endlessly on the reflective ceiling and polished black floor. The spiral prism implying a link to the double helix DNA gives some cues to Dii’s innovative medical technology. The reception space’s depth seems to recede without end into a black mirrored wall in the back, giving an illusion of spatial complexity.

A significant challenge is the site’s minimal size with a demanding program, including five en-suite spa treatment rooms, two clinics, a reception, and two back-of-the-house rooms.

A narrow internal corridor efficiently connects all the functions. Thousands of glowing crystal droplets suspended from the ceiling reflect themselves into black mirror walls on all sides and a reflective black ceiling and floor, giving an illusion of spatial infinity. In each spa treatment room, countless crystal droplets are hung from an entire ceiling plane, subtly glowing with slow color-changing light ranging from deep turquoise to ultramarine blue. The installation evokes a surreal and mysterious sensation, open to each users imagination and interpretation. It perhaps reminds one of fresh heavy rain, a soothing underwater ambience, or infinite astronomical space.
