EIGHT VISUAL COMMUNICATION DESIGN THESIS PROJECTS BY STUDENTS AT SILPAKORN UNIVERSITY

The Bachelor of Arts Program on Visual Communication Design, Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, aims to produce graduates who are excellent at thinking, analyzing, and communicating creatively, able to integrate various sciences compatible with the principles of visual communication design. The program aims to create effective designs full of creativity, respond to market needs, and create added economic value. It is a driving force for the national economy to grow, along with cultivating ethical consciousness and responsibility towards society and the environment.
Students can choose their thesis projects from the following diverse areas: The diverse areas of graphics include identity design, print design, environmental art design, packaging design, data visualization design, font design, and motion graphics. The categories of digital media and new media include application design, experience design, and interactive media design, among others. Marketing communication encompasses categories like advertising design, event design, and content design, among others. Examples of these categories include illustrations, character design, and concept art. Still and film categories include photography, movies, music videos, and animation, among others.
SUMMER of 2545

Summer 2545 is a coming-of-age anime that follows the story of a young girl from Bangkok who spends her summer vacation with her grandmother in a Tai Lue village in Mae Hong Son Province. During her time there, she befriends a girl who has the lower body of a kingfisher bird. Their unlikely friendship develops into a deep bond as they navigate the challenges of growing up in a world that doesn’t always understand them.

Far Away – 2D animated film

This media design project aims to create an experience of the festival under the theme of Love at First Light. Come fall in love under the lanterns at the Yuanxiao Festival, Talad Noi, and meet the flashiness and new experiences through interactive media, including websites, AR media, and motion, that will awaken the colors of the Yuanxiao Festival once again. The design will take people to retrace the path of the unique Chinese lanterns of Talad Noi, creating experiences with mixed media, both online and offline, along with designing souvenirs by maintaining the historical scent that older generations miss with modernity to invite the new generation to visit and explore.

This is an interactive media, Visual Novel, a 2D image technology combined with 3D, that will inform you. Life does not always go as planned. Players assume the role of a freelance artist. If you do not present your work on time, you will die and have to return to work. The final step is to select your to-do list from the calendar. Do not let a deadline spoil your work or your life.

And by the time they realize that they have good things around them, it may be too late to pay more attention to them. This was the inspiration for the creation of the music video. ‘Nice to Meet You’ by artist ‘Stoondio’ so that those who watch the video will be reminded of the important things around them that make them happy.

Illustration design for the book ‘Escape from Our Home’

People usually seek new experiences from outside. Few people notice their surroundings and see that their own home is the best. This project is to design a book to record the journey home and to present Surat Thani Province from a perspective that is more than just a tourist attraction, through the story of the return home of ‘Khao Hom,’ a child from another province who came to study at a university in Bangkok. Full of memories, fun, and the warmth of family love, this story is brought to life with watercolor techniques and cartoon sketches.

Concept art design for the game “The Mystical of Herbal Alchemy”

Environmental problems are currently causing an increasing number of health issues for people. These days, people commonly use antibiotics and herbal medicine as alternative treatments, which are more effective in treating less complex diseases than antibiotics. However, the benefits of herbal medicine remain relatively unknown to the general public. This project aims to disseminate knowledge about the benefits of herbal medicine through the design of concept art for games to increase widespread awareness of herbal medicine. Through the design of game concepts and characters, the project can spread awareness about the advantages of herbal medicine and its application in treatment.
