The Department of Jewelry Design, Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, offers outstanding training in the art and creative design of contemporary jewelry in Thailand that is well-known and acknowledged both domestically and worldwide. A significant component of this accomplishment is the support of current art and design education in an ever-changing global culture. It is critical to increase students’ knowledge and creativity, which can be assisted by dedicated lecturers who transmit worldwide perspectives. Personal expertise is essential for enhancing skills and learning capacity. Promoting creative output, such as student artwork, is a commendable practice that demonstrates the effectiveness of developing knowledge and abilities to prepare for the academic position determination plan, regarded as one of the most critical missions for achieving stable progress in the curriculum.
As a result, to meet the goals of the Faculty of Decorative Arts at Silpakorn University, which are to develop and encourage the transmission of knowledge and abilities among students, this is thought to stimulate the field of education in contemporary jewelry design in Thailand. It also displays a creative perspective relevant to the current global situation regarding aesthetic ideals and philosophy. Participating in the Degree Show 2024 project is thus a vital activity for creating future modern jewelry creation.
A Contemporary Accessories Design Project, Representing the Value of Ikebana Flower Arrangement
by Nuttanicha Petchmalaikul
Ikebana is a Japanese flower arrangement with a rich and long history. Teaching doctrines of Zen Buddhism, as well as its unique formality, elegance, and aesthetic appeal. Life philosophy is secretly hidden in each flower arrangement process, and we reflect on ourselves through flowers. While Ikebana teaches us to appreciate the beauty in every aspect and every moment of the life cycle, it also provides a personal experience and feeling during the process. The whole process leads us to the inspiration of passing on value through contemporary accessories. It allows the wearers to get involved by picking and changing the ideal flowers designed to follow the Ikebana’s doctrines: tranquility, gentleness, and the truth of life.

Ornaments with auspicious words from the naming culture from signs in Yaowarat area
by Panicha Mettaviparee
This jewelry design was inspired by advertising in the Yaowarat neighborhood. Yaowarat has long been a commercial and residential hub for Thai-Chinese people. Shop signs in the Yaowarat neighborhood feature beliefs and auspicious phrases, and they are famous for their Thai and Chinese characters. As a result, I am interested in developing jewelry with auspicious words and categorizing them into four sectors – money, health, fortune, and success – in order to bless and encourage the wearer through jewelry.

Designing Jewelry as Therapeutic Evidence for Capturing Mental Outcomes from Music Therapy
By Ploynapas Jaroensavejhiran
My life has revolved around music. Listening to music has shortened the duration of pressurized stress. The jewelry I designed is, therefore, intended to be an object to record the results of the mind. It is a tool for learning about my own emotional development. Studying the bridge part of the categorized songs I listen to during stressful times allows me to exhibit the collection of jewelry as a personal memento, reflecting my emotional journey and growth.

Jewelry Design Project Applying Floral Craftsmanship to Enhance The Beauty of the Femininity
by Duangtip Loseeda
Handicrafts are a cultural heritage that pays homage to the land and has been continuously passed down as wisdom from generation to generation. Handicraft work demands significant concentration, meticulousness, and precision in its production. I have a keen interest in the techniques and outcomes of hanging flowers. The arrangement of flowers in a horizontal plane creates a sense of orderliness, making each unit of flower have a space to create distance until it creates the concrete and abstract form of fresh flower handicrafts and is applied, combined, and used to create new types of jewelry, to communicate contemporary Thainess. It also expresses the sweet beauty of flowers and reflects the delicacy of women.

Being an exchange student was one of the most important opportunities of my life. The purpose of this project is to recollect stories and convey impressions during three months of living in the Republic of Korea, which overlapped the transition from late winter to early summer. Furthermore, this jewelry project also represented my perspective through the various shapes and forms of the environment and my memorable places.

Jewelry Design Project To Reflect Feeling Of Gratitude To Mother
by Pitchaya Santimethi
The Jewelry Design to Reflect Feelings of Gratitude to Mothers project aims to review and study the concept of expressing gratitude, creating new forms of value for materials with sentimental value, and understanding the jewelry design process. The process started with creating jewelry pieces and researching art history from the prehistoric era to the postmodern era, then focused on conveying the abstract feelings of love between a mother and child, showing the development of each age group through the appearance of art. This educational process can create awareness and appreciation for Mother’s grace. It can also be developed commercially, as well as be a model for the process of conveying love and relationships concretely in the future.
