How should you design anything in regard to nature? And how far could you call your work a nature touching one unreluctantly? Most designers have not found any clear answer yet. By the way, art4d in collaboration with Crystal Home x Villeroy & Boch invited the designers of both national and foreign studios to share their own experience and resolution corresponding to a talk event’s theme ‘In touch with nature: Crafting Sustainable Design’ on September 28th.
This talk event was joyfully held at Noble PLAY Ploenchit. At first, Amisa Raksiam was honored to introduce as a moderator before the afternoon session by KASCHKASCH, a German design studio that explained its procedure and searching for inspiration to design ‘Antao’ the sanitary ware collection of Villeroy & Boch whose collection’s design form was outstandingly inspired by a natural dewdrop after its two founders Florian Kallus and Sebastian Schneider had explored by themselves, discussed with the factory team until performed pre-production sketching.
Meanwhile, there was a narration by Sher Maker, a Chiang Mai based notable architect that mentioned another viewpoint. Patcharada Inplang said that the lifestyle of designers is influential in the work conception during the narration. With regard to herself, becoming a designer is not only dependent on conception. The lifestyle blended with practice should be included unlike KASCHKASCH which chooses to discover and have a conversation to perceive deeply. Sher Maker has an involvement like being a part of their identities. These two procedures are just their own experience from the two different design studios. If there will be any chance next time, art4d would rather listen to many other narrations about working with nature.
In addition to dense knowledge in the narrative and Q & A sessions, there was also the showcase of the Antao collection that participants could appreciate before the talking sessions as well as during a networking party. The collection was composed of three colors; black, creamy and green which were harmoniously displayed among various flowers, aligned well with the concept ‘In touch with nature’.
