WHAT
Summer Design is an architectural design studio that values creativity, offering innovative design concepts that respond to both client needs and the unique potential of each space. We bring out the distinctive charm of every environment, making it stand out – whether it’s a private residence, retail store, café, or office. Our goal is to create spaces that are not only functional but also bring a sense of joy and delight to those who experience them.

WHY
After spending years gaining professional architectural experience abroad, we returned with a refined design process and a wealth of inspiration to establish our own design studio. We believe that architecture should go beyond functionality and aesthetics—it should reflect the unique identity and character of each project. Our goal is to create meaningful environments that leave a lasting impression on everyone who encounters them.

How do you define your own style of work?
design solution – We do not adhere to a fixed architectural approach; instead, each project is driven by a unique analysis of its specific context and requirements. One constant in our work is the emphasis on creating meaningful experiences and lasting impressions through design.
What inspires you and what principles do you apply to each project?
The excitement of tackling new design challenges lies in engaging with project owners, exploring unfamiliar insights, and uncovering unique aspects to integrate into our design process.

Which project are you most proud of and why?
JJ Mall Façade Design – This project presented multiple challenges, including site constraints, complex permitting processes, and a limited budget. Additionally, construction took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing unforeseen obstacles that required our team to find solutions on a weekly basis. Overcoming these hurdles made the successful completion of the project even more rewarding, reaffirming our ability to adapt, persist and deliver despite the circumstances.
Which part of the process do you enjoy the most during work?
We especially enjoy the preliminary design as it involves gathering research and data relevant to the project. Our team then analyzes this information to inform the design process. This stage allows us to explore various ideas that are best suited to the project’s unique needs. This stage is full of potential and creativity, setting the tone for everything that follows.

If you could invite any ‘creative’ for a coffee, who would it be and why?
We’d love to have coffee and a conversation with a filmmaker, specifically Christopher Nolan. We believe that the starting point of the creative process, the thought process, the approach to composition, and the narrative development in filmmaking closely resembles the process of architectural design in many ways. While the outcome of film results in moving visuals and architecture through physical in nature, both disciplines share an undeniable focus on narrative and experience. That is why, Christopher Nolan is the first name that comes to mind for his approach to storytelling and sparking our interest in this discipline.
