WHO

Rawee Chaichana from SPACE OF MANKIND — a small interior design studio led by a group of passionate young designers.

WHAT

We’re a studio that thrives on experimentation. Our work evolves with each brief, shaped by the client’s preferences and the freedom they give us to explore. We love the process of adapting and transforming ideas into spaces that feel meaningful, and alive.

WHEN

We opened our studio just this past February. My own journey began as an interior designer in a well-known architecture firm, followed by years working in Singapore and taking on diverse projects. Eventually, I realized I wanted to build a team that could find joy in both the work and the environment — a space where pride and happiness coexist and are shared with others.

WHERE

We’re based at 33 SPACE, located in Soi Pradiphat, Bangkok.

WHY

Years of working in this field made me realize how many designers pour everything into their work, only to be left with stress and burnout. Great projects, broken spirits. We want to change that — to build a studio where the creative process feels fulfilling, not soul-crushing.

How do you define your own style of work?

‘Experimental.’ For us, every client brief is a starting point — a seed. We test, twist, and reinterpret that seed until it becomes a space that not only reflects the client’s personality but also feels genuinely delightful for everyone who walks into it.

What inspires you and what principles do you apply to each project?

Honestly, it’s the desire to make our clients happy. That’s the clearest and most consistent source of inspiration behind every design decision at Space of Mankind.

Which project are you most proud of and why?

Our own office. We built it with the belief that a workspace can be both joyful and productive. To this day, it still lives up to that vision.

Which part of the process do you enjoy the most during work?

When the younger designers on our team come to pitch their ideas. There’s always this light in their eyes — full of hope and excitement. We don’t believe in ‘wrong’ ideas. We’ve never shut down a dream. Our goal is to nurture those sparks so they grow bigger and brighter, even if one day they take those dreams elsewhere.

If you could invite any ‘creative’ for a coffee, who would it be and why?

Sou Fujimoto, the Japanese architect. I once attended one of his lectures and was struck by how much he values human interaction within space and context. That resonates deeply with me — I carry the weight of every person, every detail. I’d love to sit down over coffee and simply ask, “Are you tired, too?” (laughs)
