We are doing what we love with the best of our abilities, hoping that it can contribute something worthwhile to the public, and to be a part of the force that brings the Thai architectural community to the global architectural arena.
HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE CREATIVITY?
Architecture is like a duel. It’s a motto inspired by a Japanese cooking manga. It’s a competition in so many aspects if you really think about it. It’s a fight against yourself when you have to choose the best idea to use, then it’s the discussion you have with your crew to find the most suitable answer for a specific situation you’re dealing with. Then there’s the competition itself where you fight the components using your creativity. There are no right or wrong answers. Every work created is valuable and can benefit the architectural community and the society in its own way but only the most suitable and fitting idea is chosen as the winner and gets the opportunity to be developed.
DESCRIBE YOUR PRACTICE IN THREE WORDS
DO-THIS-DONE!
WHERE DO YOU GO, OR WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU GET STUCK ON A PROJECT?
Going for a run, just around the neighborhood or common areas of my condominium. When I run, I don’t know why but perhaps it’s the kind of activity that gets me away from work and it allows me to think about situations and work with a different perspective. And I think jogging is a form of meditation for me.
WHAT PROJECT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
It’s the project called Ghost to Host, which won TRAA (Taiwan Residential Architecture Award). I worked on that project with my Malaysian friend, Mah Yi Jun and we proposed the idea of reconfiguring a deserted building on Sathorn Road into affordable housing of the future. The proposed ideas included the adaptation of a living space to fit today’s people’s lifestyle and the manipulation of interior programs to cope with future pandemic situations such as Covid-19.
IF YOU COULD INVITE ANY CREATIVE OUT FOR COFFEE, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
My father. He’s an architect and when I’m working on a project, I always consult him about techniques and ideas. There are many different topics and ideas that I discuss with him.
