There’s no need to go all the way to France because the new Uniqlo T-shirt or UT collection brings the Louvre and the famous paintings and sculptures to the back of your t-shirts. Adorable and charming, Yu Nagaba’s simple lined illustration bespeaks Uniqlo’s character as an everyday wear for everyone with a wonderful and individual expression of one’s love for art.

The collection is a collaboration between the Louvre, the world-renowned museum known for its dazzling glass pyramid and extensive art collection with over 35,000 art pieces, including some of the world’s artistic masterpieces, and Yu Nagaba, the illustrator with an impressive portfolio who’s loved for his clean, minimal black and white drawings. For this collection, Nagaba construes selected classic art pieces such as The Winged victory of Samothrace, The Mona Lisa, etc. with the simplistic yet unique style of his illustration.

The Louvre X Yu Nagaba UT Collection picks up on two artistic characteristics, from the artistic creations of the past at the Louvre and their status as the classic masterpieces that represent artistic movements in different periods of art history, and Yu  Nagaba’s contemporary creation. The illustrator’s artistic expression is carried out through clean, understated drawings that render new, interesting perspectives of how classical art can be viewed and interpreted. Through Nagaba’s artistic lens, Leonardo Da Vinci’s The Mona Lisa and its status as the representatives of the Renaissance Era is simplified into a more contemporary presentation, reflected on a piece of clothing, serving a different role at a different time and place.

The Louvre X Yu Nagaba UT collection comes with four patterns: The Winged Victory of Samothrace, The Astronomer, The Mona Lisa, as well as the pattern that puts together seven masterpieces exhibited at the Louvre in the form of a cute, minimalistic drawing.

The Louvre X Yu Nagaba UT collection will be available for purchase on February 7th, 2021 at all Uniqlo stores including their online shop: https://s.uniqlo.com/ut-louvre-yu_art4d
