Founded in South Korea in 1978, Melatone took only 40 years to become one of the leading manufacturers of HPL (High Pressure Laminate) of the country. The brand’s production capability continually grows and is manufacturing up to 29,000 pieces of laminate per day with distribution in 40 countries worldwide. In 2013, Melatone began its marketing strategy in Thailand and is currently operating under the name Melatone Company Limited.
As the industry continues to grow, laminate has become one of the top materials of choice for interior designers thanks to the physical qualities that offer a vast array of textures which mimic physical aesthetics of natural stone, concrete and even fabric. The development of Melatone’s products in these past several years encompasses many new inventions and incorporation of technologies including the development of other types of laminate that offers more exclusive qualities such as the Anti-Bacteria Laminate developed to reduce the adhesion of microorganisms on the material’s surface. Being ISO 22196 certified, the material is able to get rid 99% of bacteria from the laminate’s surface within 24 hours. This direction of Malatone’s product development is one worth following especially with the current emergence of COVID-19 that triggers the world’s recognition in the importance of personal hygiene overnight.
Clean Touch comes with 14 color shades and can be used in several types of interior spaces from residential spaces with rather high humidity levels such as a kitchen and bathroom to public spaces from restaurants, kindergartens to hospitals, which require a material with an extra clean surface. Clean Touch can also be used as a finishing material for furniture products.
Every product developed by Melatone is manufactured using an environmentally-friendly process with EN 438 European Standard. Since the beginning of 2020, the changes in global climate and events have caused products’ research and development to factor other elements that are more than just aesthetic qualities. Melatone is one of the brands that prioritizes the hygienic quality of space and the well-being of its users. With the brand’s first manufacturing plant in Southeast Asia operating in Malaysia since 2017, Melatone will not only be improving its production capacity, but also its research and development ability that will sure bring the design industry more innovative laminate products in the future.
