WHO
Stupidshittttttttt is a safe haven for stupid stuff.

WHAT
Stupidshittttttttt’s hobbies include playing, having fun, and engaging with spaces, objects, and ideas that most others consider banal and inconsequential.

stupidshittttttttt

WHEN
Stupidshittttttttt arose from the experimentation of novel, never-before-used programs that are basic but confined by many limits (akin to using a cursor to draw in the paint software), which turned out to be a lot more fun and smoother than imagined. Knowing that the end result can never be the same as what I had in mind (for example, you can’t draw a life-like cat using only paint software) allows me to sketch things instinctively. As it turns out, such an unanticipated process reflects who I am in ways that I have never even realized before.

WHERE
Bangkok (although I’d be happy anywhere). The more places I visit, the more fun I have.

WHY
I believe it is essentially my own questioning about growing up. It’s about how I became accustomed to following orders, being logical, having inhibitions, drifting away from my younger self, being overly conscious about whether I should do something, doubting the desire to follow my own heart, to play, to rest, to spend time doing nothing, and questioning whether these are the things I should or shouldn’t do.

If ‘stupidity’ is the medium you use to get out of the box, does ‘stupidity’ have its own box? What is your definition of stupidity?
It’s still uncertain, and I’m still learning. Stupidity, as per my current understanding, is ignorance. Ignorant people can learn ‘anything’ in their own way. People who are stupid are the most dangerous because they lack common knowledge and no one can understand what they are thinking.

However, I strive to recognize that language is used to communicate rather than to confine.

What is your inspiration and guiding principle for each creation?
My inspiration comes from everything around me. Things I’m thinking about or a new perspective on something, I prefer to work with restrictions most of the time since it allows me to experiment. For instance, this time I’d just work on Butthead (a character’s name), or I’d try to be foolish. I believe that limitations and constraints can result in something unexpected.

What is your preferred tool or medium, and what kind of work do you do with it?
I prefer it when I utilize something that appears unusable, and when I’m finished working on something, I don’t know whether it’s going to work, but at least I tried. Plastic toys, a funnel, a toothbrush, and a portable charger are some of the examples.

What is your favorite part of the whole process?
When it ends out differently than I expected. That kind of result makes me like the work even more because it wouldn’t happen if I were too cerebral and meticulous.

Do you like works with distinct, vibrant colors or works that combine colors to create a specific mood and tone?
I think maybe both. I like when things contradict each other.

What is the project you are most proud of?
That is tricky. I suppose I like everything I’ve done, and each endeavor has taught me something new. However, one of the most recent is the spatial design for the ‘Shitty Space’ exhibition at Street Star Gallery (Bangkok 2023). The project far exceeded my expectations. The space is created to flow smoothly, and the work is fun and open to different interpretations.

If you could invite a ‘creative’ to coffee, who would you invite and why?
Eno, Brian. He is a British artist with such a diverse and extensive repertoire. He works in a different way from Gabriel Whaley of the Art Collective ‘MSCHF.’ ‘MSCHF’ strikes me as exceptionally brave and a bit insane. They have such entertaining takes on capitalism. Both Eno and Whaley, in my opinion, are rebellious creative individuals from different eras.
